I used a LED Livewell Light from Amazon and wired it to the dash lights.

Cheap enough for me but hate to wire switch if I don't have to

Try this type of stick-on battery-powered LED light:

Used something like this in my Tuffy box on my last truck and it worked great.

Cheap too- three for eight bucks!

What Jeff said ^^ plus, the LED draws so little power it doesn't matter if it is on when the box is closed. Of course you could put a pressure switch in the box so it came on with the lid being opened, but I just went with the dash lights. BTW, you can just tap it into the Illumination Lead for the Radio, which is right there and can handle the minimal draw of the LED.

Great idea with a pressure switch, and I also was thinking radio illumination for power. Thanks guys!

For a nice clean pressure switch that is inexpensive, I like the BMW E30 door switches. They are the same as our door switches but with a nice rubber boot that covers the whole thing.

i hardwired in a hella led strip and used a switch beside the radio.
this is the one i used.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/200379249016?lpid=82

its not as bright as you think but works inside the center console just fine (mounted to the front inside of the console)

I also have a tufty one which works ok.
