110 Value and Inspection

Here is what was found during the inspection of the 110 I was going to buy. Thoughts? New thoughts on value?

Compression Test: [1]165 [3]160 [5]165 [7]165 [2]165 [4]165 [6]160 [8]165psi
Leakdown test: [1]20% [3]25% [5]20% [7]20% [2]25% [4]20% [6]25% [8]25% leakdown
Valve Cover Gaskets leak
Engine Oil Cooler Hoses leak
Hood Release Cable Handle broken off
Spark Plugs worn, air filter dirty, needs major service
Blower Fan only works on high speed
Kenwood stereo is inoperable
Rubber on brake and clutch pedal worn
Power Steering fluid is low, hoses leak
Both swivel housings leak gear oil
Exhaust replaced with aftermarket generic
Right outer tierod end worn out, boot torn
Front brake pads approx 70% left. Front rotors measure 14.3 mm
Rear brake shoes & wheel cylinders appear new
Rear brake backing plates rusted.
Bulkhead rusting around front right windshield pillar - could be a major repair.
Some chassis rust noted - mostly superficial

Rear corner fixed with bondo over the dented aluminum. Bondo flaking off.
Tires old, sidewall rubber cracking
Driver door lock button & trim missing
All door hinges rusted
Roof rack bar bent in front

Sounds like the standard stuff for a 1993 110

Was there a hole from the rust on the bulkhead?

Nothing looks bad for a 93, other than the bulkhead and bondo...still wouldn't scare me off.

Someone help me find a good deal on a NAS110! hah

Did you check the posts of the bulkhead? Mine looked a lot worse up top than yours, but everything else looked pretty good until I pulled the black trim off the sides and realized the trim was the only thing left. Big pieces of the bulkhead came with the black trim because the rust was so bad! Anyway, if water has gotten in there from the top, it has nowhere to go, so check that area out closely. If that is solid I say you are in good shape. I really think that you will find it to be solid as yours doesn't look anywhere near as bad as mine was at the top. Anyway, as others have said, the rest just looks like standard 110 stuff that isn't a big deal.

Can I check that bulkhead stuff myself? Is it still worth 40k?

Basically, the posts where the front door hinges are bolted to. From the inside there is a black vinyl sort of material covering the side of the foot well. It is sort of a triangular piece. Anyway, feel that post by pressing on it with your hand all over the place, especially the bottom. If you have a small hammer, tap gently on it and see if it feels solid. If that is totally shot I would say it is worth less than $40k IMO because it will need the bulkhead to be replaced, but I think it will be solid. The bulkhead doesn't look bad in the pics at all.

There is still a 110 bulk head for sale on here for a reasonable price (under 2K). That is a quick fix in the overall scheme of things, ... but that said, ... it doesn't look that bad to me.

I still say if you can get this for anything South of 40K you are money in the bank.

You want to know what its worth? Take an awesome set of photos and put it on ebay with no reserve. Tell the seller you'll pay 1k over the final price. If you think that is less than 40, then go for it. If you think that's more than 40, just plunk down your money and take her home. Its worth 40k to the extent that you don't have to dump 5k into it tomorrow. Buying any 110 from a private seller is a boon, since you aren't paying the minimum of 10k dealer markup. But seriously, whats a thousand or five when you are buying a 40k truck for more than its original sticker 15+ years ago? Techincally, you're already and obsessive or an idiot. Don't worry about which one you are, take it home and enjoy it.

I am a bit of an idiot but that is besides the point. So if the bulkhead is solid inside can the problem under the windshield be fixed?

Yup

On a $40K 110 we would typically find 3 to 5 pages of faults. So seems like a goodish truck, but a lot depends on your perception of "good". If you think this is a "good" starting point to make a very nice driver with more $ put in in parts and a lot of your time, buy it. If you think this is a "good" 110 that won't need anything and you are already at the limits of your budget for the completed 110 project, don't.

It was built in 1992... its gonna need some stuff.

I do not check PMs. Call or email if you need something.

ECR is not a parts source. We are not in the mail order business.

Barry, if you dont pull the trigger I might be putting my 110 up for sale soon. A lot less rust than that one but might be asking a little more for mine. I can send pics if you like.

thanks but spending more really isn't the plan. Sorry for all the questions on value. I am just curious since the 110 is a totally different animal from the 90.

So I bought it, thanks everyone. I checked the bulkhead posts and they were totally fine. The only issue I found was the rust repair that was done by the guy. It wasnt on the seat box after all. If you remove the kick panel from the passenger side a small plate was glued/riveted in. Not sure what this is all about. check out the pics

If I were you I would buy that 110 bulkhead in the for sale section to keep around as a spare.

There is no way to know for sure, but based on the other pics you sent I bet it is rusting from the inside out on top which is worse than that patch. That is not an easy repair by any stretch. Given that 110 NAS style bulkheads are super NLA, I would buy it just to have it, but that is me. If I did not purchase a TD5 bulkhead, I would snap it up.
