Angry 110 Kills Multiple O2 Sensors

Trying to pass SMOG -- had to take the 110 in to the shop. Mechanic tells me that driver's side has burned through two O2 sensors in less than 5 mins of running time each. WTF!?

Possible proposed diagnosis was improper sealant used when heads rebuilt.

Anybody seen this issue before? Ideas?

UPDATE:O2 sensors are fine, but their is a larger problem causing the sensor in that position to cut out intermittently. Fortunately, i passed SMOG during a short window of solid performance.

I'm guessing it must be a short? CPU? the ghost of Lucas?

If anyone else has some insight before i spend $$$ to have it diagnosed, that would be great.

Thanks.

Follow the wires up. Look for something pinched or melted. Backed out pin on the connector. Also seen someone hook up the front connector to the rear sensor and vice versa (this was a disco, not sure if it is possible on a D90).

And .... thanks to my most recent problem, make sure the starter wire is not grounding out.

Thanks Ron, i'll get under there and see if i can find any damaged wires. That is about the limit of my electrical skills, so i'll report back if it needs a more thorough professional exam.

Ze - Yes, am the proud owner of #409! Made the purchase on Sat. and have been going non-stop ever since trying to get things in order. I'll post some pics on the 110 thread once i have a little time. I'm ready to start enjoying it!

Disregard the swapped wires on the 110, they only have two sensors. I thought it was your 1997 so I was thinking 4.

Paul. Congratulations on your purchase. Can't wait to see the pics. Let me know if you need any help or parts. I have a ton of NAS 110 spare parts.
Are you keeping the D90 as well?

Thanks! I am keeping the 90 also. I will take you up on your offer soon -- I would love to go through some of your spare parts and see your 110 in person. I'll shoot you an email.

Paul
