#1 Glow Plug Disconnected?

Hello,
My #1 glow plug isn't hooked up. I looked at it and it still has the nut / washers on the plug itself, so it's not that it accidentally fell off or anything like that. I'm just wondering what reason it might have been disconnected. Could it have been shorting out the others? The truck came like this, and as I've mentioned I'm totally new to all this, so as always any insight is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The one at the back of the motor or the front of the motor?

If it is the one at the back that is where the harness connects to the glow plugs, that would mean that none of your glow plugs would be working.

If it is the one at the front not sure why they would disconnect it?

If the harness is just flapping in the wind it could short something out as the timer cycles it on, when you turn on the key. If that is indeed the case then the timer relay would be in question as it has probable been shorted out. But, easy to check. Does your light come on in the dash? One of my trucks didn't have the timer relay connected when they did the engine conversion. Was your diesel the factory installed motor or an addition?

It was an addition / conversion. My D90 doesn't do the glows off the ignition, it has a button below the drivers seat. The serial on the motor says 18L then RECON is stamped. From what I can gather, it's a reconditioned Disco tdi.

How do I test the glo-plugs? Maybe that'll give me some insight into what's going on.

I tested mine by getting a battery charger with alligator clips. I turned it on to the start position and connected the positive lead to the electrical connection and the ground to the body of the glow plug. I guess you could also remove one leaving it connected and ground the body of it while somebody else turns the switch on.
