The curved front outriggers on the replacement frame make clear it is an SI frame.

They still produce them but really only in England and the shipping is a pain in the ass.

Daniel I just read this on LRSOC about the Series I chassis availability. Some speculate it is because of the new Land Rover Reborn program but who really knows.

Chassis Production – Official Statement

As you probably know the club has had to suspend chassis manufacture, the reasons for this are quite complex. Chassis were previously made on behalf of the club by Richards Chassis Ltd using drawings and CAD information licensed to us by a third party, unfortunately this third party arrangement became untenable. The club has tried to negotiate a deal to purchase this information outright but the cost and the proposed terms and conditions were not considered to be workable or in the best interest of the club.

Although any drawing information for a reproduction chassis will have been created by using original Land Rover drawings or from measurements of original parts, the issues surrounding intellectual property rights are very complex and we have to be careful that we do not use or derive any information from material previously used under the licence agreement.

As soon as we have a way forward we plan to reinstate the chassis advert in Legend and resume taking orders, please be assured we are doing our best to resolve this problem.

Unfortunately until the matter is resolved, we, as committee members, cannot enter into any further discussion. Our apologies for this.

Chris Wilderspin

Club Secretary

I couldn't believe this was only 2-3 miles away from my house. I always thought Land Rover Mecca was in the Northeast but apparently there are quite a few trucks here in Florida, not including all the shops too.

It turns out he got the bulkhead from Stephen at SafariHP years ago. The chassis is from Rovers North. They sent him a LHD chassis and he had to send it back, to have them weld on some extra brackets to make it a RHD, and re-shipped back to Florida. It has been stored in his garage ever since, still on the Rovers North pallet.

Nice! I would convert to LHD. Not all that much to it on an SI since the frame is universal now.

I am sure you will do a great job.

Honestly I have no idea what I am going to do with this project. Still waiting to pick up the rest of the stuff he has in storage, then inventory what I have and see what I need. The previous-previous owner started installing a new wiring harness as you can see in the picture. It's after market and has like 200 wires. My old Series III SWB only had 4 fuses total so I can't imagine this Series I will need all that over-kill! I think I would like to keep it as original as possible but we will see. I have to finish my 110 first!

Great find! If you don't have any experience with this type of restoration, you should probably buy 1 or 2 restoration guides/manuals. If when putting back together you need close up pics of a specific area, let me know and I'll do my best to take them and e-mail them to you. My S1 is no longer in Longwood.

So I am pretty sure I just won the Land Rover lottery. Just picked up the rest of the parts from the seller. Extra set of doors, new parabolic springs, OME Nitrocharger shocks, 5 brand new 6.50XR16 Michelin XCL, new distributor, newly painted side panel and rear upper tailgate (really wish he didn't paint the galvy bits, now I have to take the paint off), and a few boxes of new parts.

Now I am really inspired to get started. There is nothing like bolting on new parts to a new galvanized chassis!

Great project!

Can I be first in line for those XCL's if you decide to part with them?
That was the original tire used for my year Camel trophy, and I have 2 original ones the spares (obviously not drive-able). And would love to put XCL's all around again.

And surprised you didn't tow the series back with the Hummer....
