What do you call your land rover?

I get asked what kind of vehicle I have. Its a 82 series 3 but it's easier to call it a defender or Land rover. What do everyone else call there's?

My kids name our vehicles... the Disco is Sandy I refer to it as a Land Rover, the P38 is Blue Rover, I call it a Range Rover.. my Series, on LR forums I only refer to it as a Series, sometimes when its specific I have to use 88". When I talk to the general public, I call it a Land Rover "you now the old school style with the tire on the hood..." then they have an idea of what I am talking about, there is also a picture of it on my phone, once I show them then they get it. But I usually get just a vague grey stare.

So far I've been explaining it as 'old land rover' and that usually gets nods of understanding.

Yeah - I almost caused an accident the other day a guy was staring at mine and almost ran into a Porsche.

The 110 I call 'gunga din the 110' just b/c it's in such tatty shape.

The RR and 88 have no name other than "rr" and "88"

I'm sure gunga won't last (as a name at least); it's just a 110

The D90 is BOB - short for box of bolts and probably not original.

The Disco is just the Disco.

When someone says they've never heard of a defender, I just say "one like they had on Wild Kingdom". Everyone seems to get it then.

When people tell me they "love my Jeep", I tell them its a Land Rover 110. When they look back at me like I have a dick growing from my forehead, I say its a Defender. Then, if they add the "confused dog head tilt" to their stupid puzzled face, I say "almost like the car Jim Carrey flipped a dozen times in the second ridiculous Ace Ventura movie." The morons usually understand by that point.

I refer them to "Daktari", which leaves them more befuddled

Interestingly and maybe because of the proximity of ECR, I say it is a Defender and people usually get that. otherwise it is referred to as Daddy's Toy!
