Weber 34ICH adaptor ring

The adapter ring (neck?) on top of the carb for the air filter hose came off. I was removing the filter and hose to replace the clutch flex hose and the ring came off as I was loosening the hose clamp.

How are these secured? It was late and I didn't poke around in great detail, but I didn't see any obvious attachment. My inclination is to carefully RTV the joint, but wanted to get some thoughts/experiences. thanks

Yep, mine old one just slips on and off, I bought a new 34 and it seems more permanently attached somehow. Eitherway, I have never had one accidently slip off.
