Thermostat on a 1963 2a 109

I just replaced a damaged radiator and tried to replace the broken thermostat and found that the upper housing will not go over the replacement thermostat. It appears I have a bellows type stat (with a flat top). I am unable to find a replacement part anywhere. Does anyone have an idea where to find one? Or can I replace the upper housing so that I can use the standard stat? If so... Where do I find one of those? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
