Series roofs?

My fiberglass roof needs a patch and has some other wear and tear. Is there a new replacement out there for Series 3?

Thanks in advance!

If it's fibreglass then it is probably not a Series 3 Land Rover. Do you have a Santana maybe?

If a Santana, I think the roofs don't interchange with Land Rover.

Yep

It is a Santana and I am hopeful a Series 3 will interchange. It has an 88" wheel base and has a Series 3 tub. I am hopeful it will interchange as logically it should. All the other "tub" related stuff interchanges. Anyone know for sure?

The biggest difference that ive seen in pictures is the back panel. The gutter on the back of a Santana is strait across the back, where as on a series roof the opening for the door extends above the gutter line.

Santana

Land Rover

Santana roof

That is true of the early Santanas, but not the 1988 model like mine. Have a look.

Which windshield do you have?
Worst case you can fit a series rover windscreen to fit a series rover roof, or defender windscreen to fit a defender roof.

Windscreen

I am fairly confident it is a Defender windscreen as it is not the split type. Did the late Series 3 have the split windscreen?

Its more about the height of the windshield than if its split. The top of the series windshield fits under the rain gutter. The top of the defender windshield is higher than the side gutter.

Some Land Rover owners removed the center frame part and put in 1-piece glass. So go by what Jeff said about it being above the side gutter level, or not.

I didn't know the Santana roofs are fiberglass. It might be easier to repair that than source another. If it's an 88" then the sides aren't as long as 90 sides so I doubt the roofs are interchangeable. But if it has a Defender type windscreen then you can't just swap a series 88" roof over.

Thanks for all the response!

For the time being I am going to peel the silicon off the puncture wound (dead branch from a Douglas fir) and apply a fiberglass patch while I continue to consider options for a replacement.

Seems the roof may be one of 5% Santana specific parts.

I really appreciate all the responses and the information shared has given me enough to answer the question.

Regretfully, the Santana is 1110 miles from me at the moment. However, here is a link to a recently ended eBay auction that shows what my roof looks like, It is short like the Series but has the Defender windshield.

Fibreglass can be repaired and can easily be made to look original. Even if the whole tree had fallen across it, it is easier to repair than aluminum.
