series 3 rhd to lhd conversion?

Greetings

Pretty much as the title says.

I havent been able to find much information on this. Seems more involved for a 3, than a 2/2a, because of the dash.

Anyone done this?

time [hrs] /cost estimates?

any known issues/unobtanium parts?

do you need a LHD wiring harness?

Advice/comments much appreciated

thanks!

It's tough to find the lhd dash parts, I think you can source everything else.

Ike has brand new ones with his NOS treasure chest that just arrived. I think the lower is around $950 and the upper is either $250 or $350.

Also go to dividing creek website for a page on defender right to left conversion; not a series 3 conversion but good read regardless.

Is the chassis civilian ? I tought that civilian chassis were basically lhd or rhd and did not interchange without a lot of welding. Military and galv chassis are lhd or rhd as for as I know. The last lhd rebuild I did was based on a lhd radio vehicle.

Biggest obstacle is the conversion of the steering. The Steering relay crossmember has to be replaced. The Steering box has to be changed. That alone may be a deal killer.

Exactly. The replacement galvanized chassis I got for my RHD Series III has holes for the steering relay box on both sides, so I can choose which way to go.
