Series 2a chassis numbers?

I just picked up what appears to be an ex-military 2A 109" Station Wagon. On the title the chassis number is listed, but, I can't find it anywhere on the chassis and the ID plate is missing. I've chacked the front spring hangers, and rear spring hangers, nothing. Chassis has pitting but no holes in those areas. Would the numbers be anywhere else?

Mine was real hard to see on my spring hanger and thought it wasn't there at first. After a wire brush dremel job the chassis number appeared right where it was supposed to be.

Thank you, I give that a try that. Is it in the same location on a military HD chassis?

military 109 wagon

Andy, I know the truck you bought. I remember it from the late 70's and early 80's around the Annapolis and DC area. It was a British Army of the Rhine truck. I saw it again on craigslist last week but could not get down in time to snag it. Its an unusual machine, few wagons were made for the MOD, and even fewer in LHD. Good luck with the build.- John

Hi John,

Thanks, I will need it! I will feel much better when I find the chassis number. I wish it had the engine and trans It's in pretty rough shape.

Hi John, thanks for the offer. I am not sure what direction I am going to go on this project, the chassis is in bad shape in the back. I have a few Range Rover Classics sitting around and was thinking of getting a replacement chassis set up for coil springs.

The body is in pretty good shape, the tropical roof seems to be in good shape. The interior is a little rough, the transmission tunnel and front floor pans are missing. I am having a hell of a time trying to find the chassis number, the ID plateis missing on the interior, but I am having the seller look for it.

Finally got the title, it says the truck is a 1975, but the id number is decoded as:
27606334c

Series 2a
109"
Basic body
diesel
RHD

The problem is, it is a:
Series 2a from 1966-1967
109"
5 door station wagon
LHD

Any ideas??

Yah there weren't any 2As being made in 1975. The S3 was in production then.

Finding the chassis number would really help.
