Ok tell me I'm not mental

Is it not true that a third from a D1/RRC will bolt into a series axle housing and be perfectly ok? Pedro and I were discussing this and I think it's a go. Am I wrong?

I've never actually done it but I believe the complete third does actually bolt right up. There is the obvious spline count difference between disco 24 spline and series 10 spline.

Unless you are planning on putting in something bigger than a 2.25 I would not suggest the swap. It makes a stock series rover a real dog and that is saying something.

Not this time. My LR's front end currently has a Range Rover Classic housing installed.

If you use the wider 3.45:1 R&P or 4.75 R&P or 4.7:1 R&P with a RRC carrier, a locker or limited slip that requires a spacer plate you will need to grind the opening for the ring gear a little wider but that is it.

My front end is currently, SeriesTrek 24 spline axles, Trutac diff, 4.75:1 R&P on a RRC pumpkin in an early SII (not A) housing.

In the attached picture, the diff on the left is a RRC pumpkin, Trutrac 24 spline limited slip and 4.75:1 R&P.

Diff on right is a Series pumpkin, Quaife 10 spline limited slip, 4.7:1 R&P with spacer plate. Both fit in my SII axle housing after metal was ground off allowing the wider 4.75 ring gear or 4.7 Ring gear + spacer to pass through.
