Hannibal/Front Runner Rack + Pelican 1600 Case Mounting Options

Has anyone figured out a way to securely mount a Pelican 1600 Case to a Hannibal or Front Runner Rack? It seems that there should be a pretty straightforward way of bolting it to the rack without drilling through the case. I think ECR has done something like this but their racks are different. It would be nice to have a bulletproof way to mount it not using straps since its a really large case.

Quick Grip clamps? Rachet strap? Binder chains? Turnbuckles? Gorilla Tape?

Interesting suggestions. Less than ideal temporary solutions IMO. I was thinking about either L-shaped brackets or a tray similar to dual jerry can holders that would either lock or clamp the bottom of the case to the floor. It would be nice to be able to lock the case to the rack (and lock the case itself). Whatever it is it will most likely utilize the t-slots in the rack crossbars.

That's it! Thanks for the link. Very helpful. I'll probably do a version like this that doesn't require drilling into the case.

Yeah I wouldn't trust those clips with a heavily loaded case. What I'd do is get two stainless steel tie down rachets from mcmaster carr (pg1531 item 3648T21) and some nylon webbing (pg 1530 item 3510t12). I use a similar system to hold my fuel tanks and my holding tank in place on the boat (strong enough so that they'd stay put even if the boat rolled over). Not familiar with the tracks on your rack, but maybe a ring bolt and washer or plate will go in the track somehow? Thread the webbing thru the ring bolt each side of the case and back thru the rachet. You'll have to sew the webbing to the one end of the rachet, but that's pretty easy to do with some fishing mono. Alternately attach a stainless S hook to the ends so it does not need to double back on itself which would make releasing the case a little easier. My $.02

nice link bill, I didn't know they had those in stainless. not that I've had any ratchet straps rust out on me over the years, though they do spend most of their time out of the weather.

so, are you saying that the boat is seaworthy and ready to put those SS buckles to the test holding down a cooler full of coronas or catch of the day?

Maybe two more weekends. Need to redo the small cabinet that holds the sink.
