Designa coil 109 chassis - info?

Gents,

I have seen a few buildups on here using Designa coil chassis for Series vehicles. I am looking for information as to how the crossmember that supports the rear A-frame is designed on the 109 chassis. It looks like it sits within the frame instead of on top of it, due to the difference in the shape of the Series chassis, but I have not seen any good photos of how it is actually built. Does it use the bolt-on brackets that are on RRC and Defender 110 chassis? Is it the same piece that is used on other chassis, or a custom piece?

Iím thinking of hanging coiler brackets on a HD 109 chassis I have and trying to figure out how to do it cleanly.

It is exactly the same as a 110. A frame arms are connected to the bolt-on brackets.

Excellent. Thanks Bill.

Only good pic I found is this one from bossman429's thread. It looks like the exact same crossmember as is used on a 110 chassis, but mounted flush with the frame top rail:

That's the stuff! I went over that whole thread but I must have skipped ahead to the assembly pics. Those shots are perfect.

I think the profile of the frame is a little different from a real SIII chassis though, seems like the bottom of the rail steps up a bit sooner at the rear and at a lesser angle. regardless, it shouldn't really matter anyways.

Edit: The front of the frame looks nearly identical. It's at the rear that it looks a little off. Then again, without the spring mounts, it's hard to compare.
