google turns up this; Land Rover FAQ - Repair & Maintenance - Series - Body & Chassis
and a mention here; John Brown 4x4 Ltd - Thirsk, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom | Yelp

Maybe more thru LRO?

Kinda....I have a galv series chassis I plan to build this summer but need to raise funds so think I'm going to sell my forward control which has this plaque on it. Was hoping to keep/build it one day but not sure if/when that will happen.

The STD code is now 01751 the rest of the number is now 431202.

Sounds like the vehicle went through a shop run by Clive Macdonald Smith. He's pretty well known in LR circles.

I think it would be a great idea to call and track some more of your FC history down. I don't know how original the yellow is, but British Telecom (as it is now known) uses yellow vehicles as did the RAF on their airfields.

Have the Vin and description handy when you call!

Was this truck for sale in VT a while back? Without an engine and with a toast frame?

Sounds the same except this has an engine but it's non original and of unknown condition.

No exception this truck needs full rebuild (read $$) but is super unique and I'm trying to figure out how it got here in the USA and its history.

Clive MacDonald Smith owns a rover shop in the UK. In the Late 1980's or early 90's he met John Morrison who used to mechanic for Rovers North. John had his own rover shop. They met at a Rover Rally at RN. They became friends. John always wanted a FC, thus Clive found one for him. He imported it and ran if for years. The original 2.6 died and John stuffed in a 4 cyl Nissan diesel engine. Typical frame rust killed the truck. I looked at it years ago when attempting to find a driver 109 pick up. John sold off all his parts including a 107 wagon. IIRC Steve Yetman? bought the FC as well as a pile of series parts. Suspect you bought it from him?- John

sad to post this but due to unfortunate circumstance (me getting burned) I won't be rebuilding this and will be selling it. Lessons learned but for now most important is to lighten my load and pull in cash where I can. I'll be doing a for sale thread soon but its a great truck that I dreamed of big plans and hope someone else can make them come true.
