Welcome to me. I had two triple schwartz 965's a 91 and a 93, both sub 50k miles. Ea bought for sub $50k. Then there was the NAS 90 with 36k on the odometer that I sold for $18k. If I had held on, ea of those cars is worth @ least 25-30k more now.

If I were you, and you're dead set on giving up the Defender, I'd sell it (guessing you could get maybe $25-35k if you're patient)...buy either a 944 turbo or 996 targa + a '94 RRC (or RHD ROW D90). Trust me, you're going to want it back as soon as you ditch it. This way you get the best of both worlds. Sort of.

There's a 96 with decent miles and well taken care of on BaT. FYI.

You can get CPO 997 C4S's for mid 40's now. I know a guy with a 996 couple rwd automatic (far from most desirable but nice car), he got it for $16k.

My dream stable is D90, 997 C4S and then either a LR4 or MB G as a daily. I will get there.

I sold my RRC to buy a Porsche (justified it b/c I had 2 range rovers and thought I didn't need two of the same thing basically)...had the Porsche about 17 minutes and started shopping for another Classic. Went through 3 Classics to get something I was finally happy with. So I still have the Porsche, and a Classic and the world is right again. But I'll never get back that first Classic and that sucks. So again, if you're going to sell...I'd considering buying another Rover and a less expensive Porsche option because you'll kick yourself once that trucks pulls away with it loaded on top.

oh, and by "cheaper" I don't mean one with no paperwork and accident history...I just mean do a little homework, join Rennlist and troll there for awhile until you find what you want.

I've been missing my B6 S4 a lot lately as its been road trips every weekend for lacrosse and just 1 or 2 kids in tow. The Suburban feels like taking an empty bus to go get coffee at the deli.

That B7 Avant looks killer. Not sure if you have heard one with a bigger exhaust but I would get stopped by people when I had full Miltek on mine. I miss that note and the 6 speed manual the most.
