Trade eMachine EM250 netbook for a Dell Mini10v

I just bought an eMachine EM250-1162 netbook (rebranded Acer) this past Saturday (Jan 16th) for a hackintosh project. Turns out this model wont fit my needs. I'm looking to see if anyone has (specifically) a Dell Mini 10v they may be interested in trading for this one before I just take it back.

I restored the hard drive from the recovery partition, so its all set up as it comes out of the box, ready for you to set it up for the first time as owner. I have the original box, manuals, power cord and also made a set of both the systems and application recovery DVDs that I will include.

Its super fast with the Windows 7 Starter Edition for Small Notebook PCs OS, the 250GB hard drive has more room than most people will ever use, and the screen is super bright. I really like it but as I said, turns out I cant use it for my project.

The main features:
Windows 7 Starter for Small Notebook PCs,
Intel® Atom™ processor N270 1.60GHz,
1GB Memory,
250 GB hard disk drive,
10.1" SD 1024 x 600 (WSVGA) high-brightness (200-nit) TFT LCD,
Integrated 0.3 megapixel webcam
5-in-1 card reader supporting MMC, SD, xD, MS, and MS PRO cards
Three USB 2.0 ports
Internal Wireless 802.11b/g w/Easy-access WLAN switch

The rest of the geek-talk specs if you are interested:
High-definition audio support
Two built-in stereo speakers
Built-in digital microphone
External display (VGA) port
Headphone/speaker/line-out jack with S/PDIF support
Microphone-in jack
DC-in jack for AC adapter
LAN: 10/100 Ethernet, Wake-on-LAN ready
84-key keyboard with 1.6 mm (minimum) key travel
Multi-gesture touchpad pointing device
24.4 W 2200 mAh 3-cell Li-ion battery pack
30 W adapter with power cord
Dimensions: 10.17 × 7.24 × 1.03 inches, 2.62lbs w/3-cell battery pack
Software pre-installed: eMachines GameZone, eMachines Identity Card, eMachines Updater, Adobe Reader, eSobi, Google Setup, Google Toolbar, Launch Manager, Microsoft Office Personal 2007. Microsoft Works with Office Home and Student 2007 Trial (Service Pack 2), Norton Online Backup, Norton Internet Security 2009 Trial (60 days), Windows Live Essentials
No optical drive

If anyone is interested, I still have it. I just did an upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate on it and runs great so I can restore it, set it up as you, and upgrade it to Ultimate for you.

I still need a Mini10v and as luck has it, Dell has a 15% off deal going on the refurb units. If I had known this deal was coming out I would have waited and saved $8 before taxes.

15% off any Dell Outlet Inspiron™ Mini 10v Netbook!

The dell outlet has the A90's too. as low as $209 for the 8G SSD (you can get a 3rd party 16G SSD for about $70 iirc)

So what stuff didn't work on the EM250?

There is a whole list of things it could be I found out after the fact. There is something on the new system board doesnt like OSX, either that or the rumors of my newer 10.6.2 OS not allowing OSX installs may be true, installing from USB method was not working either, no wireless or lan, no sound.. all those apparently are issues with the few people that have tried it on this model.

Going to return it today. Guess I'll pick up a Mini10v after the tax refund comes. Its not a pressing issues anymore since I hacked a Dell D410 last night with IPC 10.5.6. BAM everything on it works! So at least I can do the stuff I needed a mac for. I havent read yet what will happen if I pop my retail 10.6.2 dvd in to upgrade.

I've seen the SSD model but rather have the larger hard drives.

I agree its not worth fighting it when there are models that work flawlessly. I only have 2 problems with the kids' A90s, and one isn't any fault other than it's size.

1. The screen is a bit small for some dialogs and I haven't bothered to show the kids how they can temporarily scale the screen if needed.
2. Even though the webcam works, ichat or skype crash when you try do a video chat. This one's a bummer but haven't looked to see if there have been any changes since christmas

Otherwise very happy with the A90. But if you want the disk space I guess the mini 10 is the way to go
