These turds have been for sale forever. They also took a white 97 and painted the roof and flares silver. It's very classy.

The worst part is how all these new shops name these garbage builds.

Project Ripcurl....

No history - My frustration is squarely aimed at people who are charging high prices for these trucks NOT because of man hours and lots of monetary investment that have gone into them (like a lot of beautiful trucks out there, and even on ebay), but for the reason they are just trying to take advantage of buyers who don't know the difference between one of the extensive rebuilds (an ECR build, a Himalaya build, the list goes on...), and a stock truck with a refresh that should be sold for less than half the ask.

What it does is make the brand more Sunset Blvd, and less Rubicon Trail. I think it's a shame and these dealers who aren't "land rover" specific are doing nothing but making prices rise and making it harder for enthusiasts who want to wheel or tour in a solid well sorted truck to get one at a reasonable figure.

This thread comes off as

His truck, his price. It will sit unsold forever or some uninformed buyer will purchase it, register here and ask dozens of ridiculous questions. It isn't yours or my business as to what it is sold for.

More power to them! We live in a free market society and the market will ultimately determine if this truck is worth what they are asking. If they can get that kind of scratch for a 3 door 110 off some tool with too much disposable income it's no skin off my ass. Hell, that just means mine is worth more than it really is.

I hear ya, and I'm a righty so I should embrace it. If you're right, then it will stabilize and Defender prices will come down, right? I'm kidding but I do agree with all who have mentioned the free market, and sellers privilege.

Let's leave it at this:
Mark it up 20% , Sell it at $80k and I'll keep my mouth shut. Good for them!

Mark it up to $144k, and I'll have an epsiode like I just had this AM.

I don't know, if it sells good on them, they are the ones paying the rent on that dealership in an insanely expensive zip code.

If their customers walk in the door and fall in love with something for aesthetics then they surely have succeeded there. I think they are both clean looking trucks. now that 19J engine is a different story

Taking orders for 110 Desert Combers, includes bespoke carbon fiber Darth Helmet, and doors will have numeric locks keyed 1-2-3-4. $110,000 Mega Maid costs extra... :D

HA!

I agree with Barry. I am done naming projects. It is very over done now that everyone is doing it.

I'm not too surprised really. Have you seen the values of 80's and 90's 911's recently? I was going to buy an '86 930 for about $70k, but got sniped by a dealer who then turned around and offered it to me for $100k. E30 M3 was mentioned earlier...those are completely unattainable now, when just a few years ago you could have gotten one for a reasonable price. The market for these types of vehicles is through the roof right now.

You're an industry leader and a trend setter and it bothers you that people copy you?

I don't think of my shop that way. We are just working away, doing our thing.
So yes, it bothers me when people rip off our ideas and try to ride along.

I guess we will be ahead of the curve again by not naming projects.

It totally makes sense when you are putting a product out there. Beach Runner. Everyone knows what it means. It's a type of truck you make and they are numbered.

It's all the stupid one off names that kill me.

Here is a list of some of the lame as shit names out there:
Spectre
Infrared
Tomb Raider
Bag of Dicks

In America, putting high prices on things is not considered a crime.

As others have said, it's their fault if it doesn't sell.
