I think he just worded it wrong... what he meant to say was its a 1999 with a 1986 vin plate put on it... I believe the vin plate is even wrong for what the body is...seventh digit should me an M instead of an A and I believe the vin has it as a 1987..??? Someones gonna get busted...

A TD5 in the UK in a 110 station wagon gets less than 28mpg on the highway and our gallon is 1/2 a litre bigger than yours.!!!

Tdi/NAS dash w/ Td5 hood release? What is the rotary dial in the center of the dash?

Headlamp levelling adjustment. Allows you to change the angle of the lights up or down slightly to allow for loads and/or trailers dropping the back end.

I thought the early TD5s still had the NAS style dash like that and that the rotary thing was just the heated seats function.

Look closely at the switch knob. There is a lilttle picture of a light on it like on a US vehicle lights switch.
