Well, a blast from the past ... my grandpas Mercedes has sold. Barry (bjf) referred me to a guy named JG who runs Mercedes Motoring out here in LA. I sent him some photos and he said he wanted to have it brought from my grandpas house in CO out to his showroom in LA to sell on consignment. He sent out a covered trailer to pick it up and once in his showroom he was stoked. He said it was easily one of the top 5 cars he has ever had in his shop. So the 220d has sold and it going to a collector out in New York. A HUGE thank you to Barry for helping make this happen.

Here are a few photos that JG shot: http://mercedesmotoring.com/cars/153/

I remember reading this when you first posted it...cool MB and story.

Did you fetch a good price for it? Just curious what it went for!

That car looks like a time capsule...

Wow congrats. That Benz must have been incredibly well cared for to be one of the top 5 to pass through that guy's shop.

My dad is also a diesel Mercedes nut. When this post got bumped I immediately thought it would be the perfect late Father's Day gift. Sad to see that's not an option but glad to see its been sold. Congrats on the sale!

Here's my dad's 1963 sedan peaking out of the back of his shop. It was freshly painted over a decade ago and is still waiting reassembly. Wish I could help get this completed for him.
