Selling my 73' FJ40

I have attempted to sell this last summer but had no interest. It is a 73' Orig. soft top FJ40. It has a 134K but have info. that it was a frame off restoration in 2003. It has been upgraded to a 82' 2F and power steering. Still have 3 on the floor. I replaced the tranny last summer because it was slipping out of third when going down hill. I also had the wiring harness removed and rebuilt back in 05' when I bought it.

The top needs repaired as it has a cracked rear window and the cloth beading needs replaced over the passenger door.

I have a co-worker looking to buy an FJ40. I'm not sure his price range or how far he wants to travel from Atlanta, but PM me your email address and I'll pass it on to him.

It's nice but it looks like the body is going to need a lot of love. Any idea how much it will cost to repair the rust?

I don't know this truck but I really do know land cruisers

I would want some more details but from what I see here it looks good to the money. 7k will not get you a perfect FJ 40. Happy to speak with either party as needed.... I am neutral in this!

You can get a fiberglass tailgate for somewhere around 250 ( last I looked ) and there is an outfit that makes rear quarter corner pieces specifically for this problem and they run about 100 apiece.

I can post specific pics and answer any more questions.
I feel that I am being very fair in the asking price. It is a great rig and would like to see it go to a good home.

There are a couple board members not too far from me as well as UK motors,Trevor from Rover Lab ( I think the name has changed) that I would be more than happy to have look at it for someone.

There is also Iron Pig Off Road in Fredricksburgh, VA.

I agree that it looks like a good deal. Parts are easy to get and all steel body parts are available

Before slipping into the Land Rover thing I had a few late 60 early 70's FJ 40s. Just the 2F motor swap would run you around 5k if you had someone do it for you or 3 to just buy a stock rebuilt motor . Besides the minor body problems it looks Cherry. I think 7 is a good deal considering I sold my last one, a 1971, for 5K with a blown motor. It was mostly stock accept for a 2" lift and tires but it had a hard top which you can find for around a grand. good luck with the sale, that will make someone a nice toy

This might sound heretical, but when I look at this FJ, the only thing I can think of is: Trail Rig.

Lift, bigger tires, armor, and exocage.
