Sal's 110 featured on Bring-A-Trailer

Quite an honor! And serious exposure

Do I get to apply for my Jr. G-man badge to work at the Horsey Stalking Operations Center now?

Wow I haven't seen a low number down in the double digits (like #10)...and with 61K on it is certainly low miles. GLWS Sal!

Reading some of the comments is good for a laugh. I never knew Rover diesels only lasted for 48k miles.

Wow...some of those comments...

"The TDI motors are nice upgrade over the V8 but they have their own problems with belt failures and worn drive gears and useful life of 60-80k kilometers (48k miles)."

"Some Brooklyn hipster will be able to define his manliness with this."

"The NAS trucks are not worth the premium, there is nothing special there"

"get one from Europe. They are a dime a dozen over there."

Please show me where 110 SWs in reasonable shape are a dime a dozen.

Its amazing the knowledge some people think they have. Perception is their personal reality whether or not it aligns with reality. People take wikipedia as gospel. While on a road trip last week I was listening to a wiki employee on NPR saying that the data on wikipedia doesn't meet their own standards for accuracy and is considered to be less than the 85th percentile for accuracy, yet most take it as gospel.

I for one have no knowledge of 300tdi "gears" wearing. There was the early pulley upgrade where a lip was added to the outside to eliminate belt walk but affected engines were early low serial number units and all should have had this cheap upgrade by now.

That some people get edification by spouting out statements/opinions on subjects they have no personal experience with continues to amaze me.

Best of luck with the sale Sal !

Ya gotta admit, the hipster one was pretty funny But only 48k miles? Wow, no wonder the CBP is stopping them at the ports - they are just protecting us from ourselves. It all makes sense now.

Unfortunately it's pretty much true for all of BAT. A bunch of fanboys that know a little about a lot, just enough to think they know what they are talking about. I love the site but rarely read the comments.

Like JL said, that is what BAT is all about. Guys who are total experts hiding behind a 1 time use username.

We should bring them on DEF source to fact check all the ramblings that go on here.

I first checked out BAT when it was a real, true grassroots enthusiast blog (circa 2006). It stayed that way until about 2010-2011 and steadily degraded since.
You could say it's "jumped the shark" or whatever analogy you want to use.
Sucks that anything that is really cool eventually becomes ruined by The Masses. The founder's story on how it started is cool. He's not an expert, just an enthusiast who enjoyed a wide variety of automobilia.

Still, it is nice to have somebody cull interesting offerings and present them to me in a morning email as I sip my coffee. I mean how often do you get to see an Alvis Stalward being offered in the same email as a http://bringatrailer.com/2013/12/17/...597-jagdwagen/ ?

I used to comment a lot more, but hardly bother now. It was hard to hold my tongue with some of those ridiculous comments in Sal's Defender offering. I suppose the Alvis Stalwart experts cringe when they read some of the comments about those vehicles as well.

I think the idea of BAT is awesome, there are some truly amazing vehicles found on there from time to time. I just think if people had to use their Facebook name or something they wouldn't spew such nonsense.

What a bunch of assclown-boners. You left a pretty nice swipe at that TDI guy from the idiot brigade.

Get Mike Palzone to put a bulkhead on it or send it down to me and I'll do it.
