Pelican Case Humidor interest?

So there's at least one company out there that takes pelican cases and converts them into humidors -- very cool idea for camping. Only issue is that they run $40 plus shipping for the version in an 1120 that holds.

Since I get the cases in fairly frequently I looked into suppliers for the appropriate foam and humidifier discs and it appears that I likely make these for about $30/each. They would include a black 1120 (see my other thread on these) likely 2 4 cigar trays (3 may fit, I'd have to see once the pieces arrive) and the humidifier disc.

Would there be any interest in these?

Cool idea. Who are you getting the discs from? Clay discs?

They'd be the discs with the green foam.

Supplies are in, they're ready to go. They'll hold 12 cigars on 2 trays of 6, includes the black Pelican case, slightly used with 100% seal, valve and latches, 2 open cell foam trays, and a traditional humidifier. $30 each FOB Northern VA. Shipping will be on you, easiest solution is a flat rate USPS box at $10.50.

Any that ship to an APO or FPO I'll sell for $25.

Humidor showed up the other day. It's pretty damn sweet. The "custom ordered" color is awesome, and I definitely will not be confusing the two 1120s! Just need to cut out the holes in the lid foam to fit one of my humidifying devices and a travel cutter, and it'll be all set. I'll post a pic once I'm done.

Bump - Tony I need another, or at least just the foam, please. I'll try to see if I can find your e-mail in my gmail and hit you up.

Josh I unfortunately haven't seen any of those cases in months. I'll see if I can dig up where I was sourcing that foam from though.

Yeah, if anything I have some 1120's and could just use the foam if you locate some.

Let me say, I actually got one of those through government issue in 2004 in Iraq while deployed. I turned it into my humidor while I was there (we smoked fatties every day, some days where 2-fers). I have had wood humidors come and go through the years, but to this day I still use Pelican's as my primary humidor. They have kept my fatties in perfect condition through the Middle East, Africa and Central America. I have 2 now depending on how long I'm gone. A larger one for 30 days or more. the smaller one is not kept in my 110 at all times. Get a tube of humidifier gel and you are golden.

Yeah, they're awesome - I have a wood humidor for the residence, and the 1120 for the truck, boat, etc. I want to give one to my gf's dad for Christmas for his boat, since they have a house right on the Canadian border and we have to throw the cigars we buy from over there back onto their dock on the US side. Plus, they just really protect your cigars and look good doing it!

I actually use these for humidifying the 1120 now - they don't require distilled water, they're really light, don't leak, and last a long time.

Thanks for the offer. Any corrugated foam by any chance, or just the pick and pluck?

Just pick and pluck and some other dense type...no corrugated.

The hard part of that project was finding the corrugated open cell foam in the right diameter. IIRC I wound up getting it from a humidor manufacturer (looking for their name now). The top foam (secured to the lid surrounding the puck) was the stock 1120 lid foam that's 1/4" or so.

Is it easier to get in a slightly larger diameter or something? I figured the corrugated foam for an 1120 would be the easiest to source. If it's easier to get it for say an 1150 or something, let me know.

The issue is that it's not Pelican foam, it's similar material, but Pelican (from what I could tell) doesn't make foam that's corrugated, only the egg crate version.
