Opinions on Ebay Listing

I'm new to the site and looking to get a 110 pick up in the near future. I currently have two 1963 Nissan Patrol L-60's, a '74 FJ40 that I'm parting out and my dd is a 1997 Land Cruiser.

I found the following on Ebay and it seems way to good to be true so I figured I'd post it up here and see what you all think. The auction ends today but I'm not in a hurry to make a purchase. I have been in contact with the seller however as I said, it all seems a little fishy. Thoughts and opinions would be great and thanks.

It is a VIN swap truck. That is a later non-import legal truck pretending to be a 1976.

Forgive my ignorance but how can you tell and isn't the price still quite low to be including shipping to the states?

Off topic, I'm up in the northeast corner of PA.

The listing says that the buyer is responsible for shipping!

Thanks for the welcome. Below is a compliation of the auction info and also from an email I received:

"WELL

OUR LOVELY 4X4 HIGH CAPACITY PICKUP TRUCK

SHIPPING FROM UK IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE.

UNITED STATES, MEXICO CANADA RORO INTERNATIONAL PORTS.

ANYWHERE ELSE JUST ASK. WE SHIP GLOBAL.

SO UK DOCK DELIVERY, ALL LEGAL AND CUSTOMS PAPERWORK AND FEES PAID FOR UK, SHIPPING FROM SOUTHAMPTON TO YOUR NEAREST PORT

ITS CALLED F.O.C TO PORT.

ALL YOU PAY IS YOUR PERSONAL LOW CUSTOMS DUTIES AND LOCAL TAX WHEN YOU TITLE.

WE CAN ARRANGE LOCAL CUSTOMS CLEARANCE FOR YOU TOO.

ALL YOU DO IS GO TO PORT AND COLLECT. ALL DONE FOR YOU.

MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE. AND SAVES YOU THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS."

From email asking to clarify:

"shipping..we arrange shipping. delivery of vehicle to uk docks. do all data required for uk as well as usa customs.all paperwork is notorised. get the vehicle checked by uk customs and shipping line. pay for all this including shipping.
once the vehicle is off the boat it is clients vehicle. client pays their import duties, 2% of invoice or so and a small customs clearence invoice for the people doing all the work. a small dock duty/fee is also payable.
then you pay your normal registration tax as per your state to title."

Thanks again!

Chris

Thanks again for the input.

Chris, you might try contacting Chance. You can find his posts all over the board, but the quickest way is probably to look at the Colorado happy hour thread. He just bought a hi-cap pickup from the UK and had it sent over, so he can put you in touch with the gentleman he bought it from.

Right on and thanks for the help. I'm browsing the classifieds for the time being and have been in touch with a few people. I'm really trying to find a pick up that I can use for daily drive. I'm not in a hurry so perhaps that will be to my advantage.

Is that the green one you have/had listed on Ebay? If so I do like that pick up as well. By going to a friend do you mean selling or just housing for you? Also, where in New York? I'm about 45 minutes from Binghamton, 2.5 hours from the city.

Thanks,

Chris

I think these guys are Land Rover breakers, its titled as a series 3, which may cause a problem at the docks.

I am also bringing in trucks quite consistently and all of mine are 100% legal and will not be sold till they are here, have been gone through, and will be titled in NC. I currently have an 84 d90 truck cab with a 2.8 turbo diesel and a new galvy chassis and no rust issues at all. It goes like a scalded dog and the shorter bed is pretty cool and it also comes with an ifor williams aluminum bed topper.

I'm really looking for a longer wheelbase model. My Patrols are already pretty short and I find the need for a truck often enough to pick one up. I contemplated converting one of my Patrols over to a ute however I'm not sure I want to hack either of them up too much as they are quite rare in the states. Here is a picture for your enjoyment, or displeasure...

I am working on quite a few 110's as well so if thats a must I will have some in before too long. I thought the 110 was what you wanted but thought I would mention it anyway. The 90 is really cool though as the bed is quite useful yet the truck is still smaller and more fun to drive. Shoot me a message if you want to give me your requirements for what your looking for.
