On Ebay, is this one legal?

I don't quite have an eye for what is truly 25 years old and what isn't but this one seems obvious. What do you all think?

2005 salvaged Td5

I have personally driven this Defender. I believe it's a 2005 and has a Td5 engine. It was salvaged a few years ago in a roll over. I don't know who did the rebuilding of it. It drives well, as you would expect from a newer vehicle, and looks really nice in person.

Then no, it isn't legal.

I should have been more clear when I pointed out it is an '05. Exactly - not legal at all.

So who will get the 6AM door knock, the dealer or the buyer?

I'm guessing the buyer, then whatever legal action the buyer wants to take against the seller, assuming the buyer didn't sign something acknowledging that this vehicle does not meet USC DOT NHTSA FDA approval.

I asked, the seller said the vehicle was "bought in several years ago under diplomatic immunity," but made no comment to how it could be legally registered here. He also said it's listed as a 1980 because eBay doesn't recognize the VIN, although if there was to be some truth to the ad he could've put somewhere in there that it's a 2005.

Looks like a roll of the dice to me. I would certainly get Will's opinion before bidding on it.

The Seller is a member, and a straight shooter

If you are really a buyer, rather than post trash, call him and see what is the story

just saying

Its only TRASH because you know the guy. if it were a random dude from eBay the hammer would have been dropped without hesitation.

With all the newer members that get hosed by "good guys until they aren't" there are no unfair questions by unknowing buyers.

To imply that his comment about door knocking is trash talk or snarky shows that you are either oblivious or disingenuous.
