This is made of Scottish flax designed to hold water and slowly let it leak out

So you fill it with water and it drips slowly through the flax to keep your engine cool when hung in front of the radiator.

You could also wear it around your neck if you want to stay wet: back, chest, under one arm or the other.
Lasts about 8 hours a fill up.

Were you asking an Aussie convict redneck Florida cracker question, muthalikka?
Spoke to Jonsey, he is in FL.
The jerk store called him and left a message for you.
He'll give it to you when you see him.

So the cooling water makes up for the complete and utter lack of air flow across the radiator..????

------ Follow up post added December 20th, 2015 06:46 PM ------

The flax bag is used for drinking water in the outback.... Or any hot conditions, the flax naturally seeps a little water through it and the evaporative action of the water through the flax keeps the contents considerably cooler, sure, if your car overheats you can use the cool drinking water to refill your radiator... These actually work very well and I will be using one on our trip.. I will say that it is often placed in the area of the front of the radiator as the bag does need airflow across it to work best...on a defender you could hang it at bumper level.. Or in front of the headlight..

As a side note,,,the tight arsed Scottish flax ones don't release enough water to really be of any use....

For extra flow, use a small ice pick muthalikka, am sure you have them in FL as are common upon the populus you associate with - less Jonsey, Steven, Abe, Cosmo, Raub, and Sandra.

Did I mention that Jonsey has a message from the jerk store for you?

I actually had a couple of these when I was stationed at 29 Palms and would hang them off the rear view mirrors on my CJ-7. They basically work like a swamp cooler and you would always have cool water to drink. Works best in arid climates.

Brings back great memories. In 1961 when driving through Death Valley National Park with my grandparents, we were given one when entering the park. And yes, placed in front of the radiator which on a 1960 Chrysler is huge. At the exit you gave it back to the ranger. Now we barely have money to maintain the parks.

In Iraq and Afghanistan you can place a water bottle in a damp cotton sock for evaporative cooling when hanging off the truck. Ghetto but produces cool water.
