"Firm" is a variable.

I have found that "firm" is actually "firm" if you ask 1000 questions, want 500 pictures and have to ask your wife if she would like a Defender or not.
However, "firm" is something else when your first question is,"What are your wire transfer details?"

Ha. Probably right. But I'd assume if jonathon posted it at $20k he'd have likely heard more "what are your wire transfer details?" than anything else. haha. Anyway, glad to see jonathon won't be profiting from what appeared to be effort by everyone but himself.

Or when someone says :

" I have a nice briefcase that contains 200 Benjamines and they could keep me company in a road trip to pick up the 110 ", that could become a FIRM offer

Certainly (hopefully) to insurance, but I'd find it hard to believe that someone would pay that type of coin for a salvage truck. Oh and just to bring this full circle, the truck that jonathon scrubbed the miles on and painted orange, is now for sale by that dude up in CT for over $100,000…and it doesn't seem to be flying off of the shelf. People don't want questions when they're spending that much money.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Land-Rover-D...US_Cars_Trucks

"Mileage shows 23,000, but we believe this to be on the restoration, and that the true mileage is unknown. The diesel conversion allows the truck to achieve 20 mpg with good on road manners. The truck has clean CARFAX but Carcheck shows a salvage title?! We cannot speak to this issue, but we do know she has a CLEAN CURRENT CALIFORNIA TITLE, and is in great condition. This truck needs nothing, and is ready to go!!!"

Meh; if you have $120k to spend on a g4 knockoff then you might not care about it's pedigree. At least the paint job appears to have been done properly on that 110.

Def agree that salvage (and all the mystery that seems to surround vehicles branded as such) turns away most buyers before they can test drive.

Now if ECR built it up and documented it I can imagine that might be a horse of a different color. But no orange please...

I'll tell you one thing based on first hand experience, that NAS VIN is invaluable with insurance companies and DMV. To them, it's a no questions asked scenario. And they don't care about salvage title either.

I never understood why a salvage title was so scary.
I don't see the title when I drive and even if you resell down the road, the buy in is lower, so even if you don't sell for top dollar, it didn't cost you top dollar to begin with.
I guess everyone is just looking for unicorn steak.

Got a deal pending on the 110. Fingers crossed it works out. Its not like a "need" 5 NAS 110s.

Mike it looks like jonathon is now selling the NAS 110 you're currently building? NAS 110 # 155/500 VIN SALDH1280PA919710. As far as I can tell it looks like it was the one owned by Greg Spitz previously, then Roverlab then on to you, and was the one that caught on fire last year while Greg owned it.

http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...ad.php?t=43646

and when you bought it

I attached a previous pic of it before it caught fire.

The salvage title NAS 110 #61 from the original post is still here at the shop. It is in the process of getting shipped to Puerto Rico to its new owner there.

The guy who licked it here did not come through. He bought another 110 that was here at the shop that was much rustier that he bought directly from the customer (not from us). That is #248 that came off a long life on Martha's Vineyard (so you know what the underneath looks like).

NAS 110 #155 we bought from Trevor. Promptly sold it to a customer and started rebuilding it to that customer's specs. Then when the project was just about done about a month ago, the customer had $$ troubles and needed to sell fast. So we listed it for sale and Jonathan bought it. I wish I would have had the funds on hand to buy it myself and flip it, but paying the guys comes first.

We have been finishing it up and it should be ready to ship out in a couple of weeks.
The picture in the listing is current. Its sitting just outside my office as we get the final work done.

Tracking the NAS 110s sounds like a soap opera.

Do people with 200K to spend on a 110 search craigslist??
