Military Blood bank freezer/fridge 60qt

I don't use this enough. 3 weekends in 3 years. The unit can run on any dc voltage from 12-24 volts and any ac voltage from 115-240. There is a pair of internal batteries that the unit runs on ( I recently replaced these because I was worried about what their shelf life might be). It will run 24hrs in freezer mode or two days in fridge mode-longer if your kids aren't constantly opening it like mine did. The fridge has a built in battery charger so if you mount it in your truck or trailer and put it on a switched dc circuit it will run and charge while the rig is running and then runs off the batteries when you shut down. The advantage here is your fridge doesn't run your truck's battery down.

Here's a link to the manufactures site http://www.acutemp.com/products/acut...geratorfreezer

This units costs over $8500. I bought it new in the box from the govt as surplus. Price is $700.
I still have everything that came with it still in the bubble wrap envelope.

The downside of this unit is its size and weight. It takes 2 people to move it around once loaded. This would be ideal for someone who mounts it in a rig or trailer and leaves it there. A more versatile and rugged unit doesn't exist. I had it sold to a fellow in Denver last month but he couldn't pull funds together. Fedex Ground's quote to ship it was $122

I plugged it in so I could take a picture of it working. These are not cold plate fridges like everything else on the market- they are convection for faster more even cool down. While meant for plasma and vacines it does wonders with groceries and beer. There is nothing even remotely comprable on the market. made in Ohio and if you ever need anything (doubtfull) a tech is a phone call away- not in Austrailia....

Very cool unit. I need an excuse to get this.
Maybe if I add up all the money I spend on ice all summer.......

It's one of those things I clearly don't need but really want

Bah, just strap it down in the back of the 90 Chris, just think of it as an extra passenger. A little more weight over your rear axle sure couldnt hurt..

Agreed. If my D1 sells before this is gone I will have a tough time not buying it!

A lot. I had a piece of an old bread crate (plastic grate material)cut to fit in two of the internal grooves to act as a divider to keep groceries from beverages so I never went for a maximum beer load. A guess would be two cases or more. The few times I used this I had the kids with me so lots of soda's juice boxes etc.

That is so freakin funny Doug! I did some checkin on that cooler/freezer, pretty nice. I'm giving all my money to Wolf,Rockware and Exmoor so I'm eliminated for an impulse buy.
