Questions:

It's a 3G, right?
What firmware level is it at?
The crack is on the protective case and not on the actual phone?

I just got one of these from a relative ... the jailbreak and subsequent unlock were so simple that i was scratching my head for ages thinking it hadn't done it ..

my firmware is 3.1.2

Yeah, I've stayed at 3.0 due to the ease of use of Redsn0w. Did you use pwnagetool or blackra1n? From what I understand, 3.1 came with a baseband update to 5.11.07 that you want to avoid. If you did take the baseband update, you have to use blackra1n to unlock/jailbreak. Bad thing about blackra1n is that it's a tethered unlock. Meaning if you reboot your iPhone, you've got to re-run blackra1n...

Wife is wanting an iPhone now, so this would be for her. As we're both on T-Mobile, unlocking is a must.

I used Blackra1n and have firmware 05.11.07 ... It works fine ... you can power it off and on again without having to do anything. I guess if I hit reset I'd have to use blackra1n again.

All i need now is to get all my parts and maintenance manuals onto it for those remote location fixes!

My iPhone is running 3.12 and I used Blackra1n. Quickest and easiest pwn Ive ever used. I havent had a need to do a hard reset since either. Before when I upgraded to 3.1 and could re-pwn the phone, my phone crashed daily and I had to hard rest to get it to come back. I've done a few reboots since applying blackra1n but like I said, no forced hard reboots so I dont know what will happen if I do. I also left blackra1n on the phone so i dont know if that helped with the tethered issue I saw mentioned.

That's good data on blackra1n; thanks! I've been a bit hesitant to take the latest FW due to a lack of redsn0w.

In regards to manuals, check out Air Sharing

So Rugbier, I'm interested...

2nd Gen are not 3G, they do work on the 3G network though
3.1 ( 7C144) it is what it says when I go to Settings, About - Version
It comes with 3 protective cases

1 - Otter Box - Great Condition
2 - In - Case with the crack line
3 - Silicone case

Thanks

Is the back of the phone aluminum? If so, then it's a 1st generation, 2G data with no GPS. If the back of the phone is either black or white plastic, then it's a 2nd generation, 3G data with GPS. If the later is true, then I'll take it.
