Hood Blackout Kits.

Vigg design is making up some more hood blackout kits for the d-90s. They also have the patterns for many other rovers. They are just awaiting the material from 3M. Their contact info is:

What does a black out look like on a 90?

Pardon my ignorance: Is the idea that the blackout kit would reduce glare reflected off the hood? Wouldn't it also attract heat and turn your engine bay into an oven?

Come on, do I really need to explain this. With a disco the hood black out follows a specific line to the hood. I don't think the defender has the same shape and a black out would look odd. Its not like the whole hood would be black.

Would it just follow the same pattern as the hood / bonnet chequer plate?

If so, then maybe this will help imaginations soar.

You should diamond plate your entire truck. It's rhinolining for 2011.

I think the blackout on a d90 would look pretty sweet with most d90 colors.

For those of you who have roll bar lights, is hood glare an issue on Defenders?

I am not sure about glare or not. The hood blackout kit like Josh said covers the same area (center as the chequer plating). The guys at Viggs are into landrovers and could probably explain the benefits but I am sure there are some forum members who can give us the skinny on them. I have a AA Yellow and going for the black and yellow look. Not to mention that these can some times cover unsightly scratches or fading in the paint on the hood. As far as turning it into an oven, if that were the case then I don't think rover would have sold us a beluga black version...not trying to be a wiseass....even though I pretty much am a jackass most of the time and I did get some feedback the some of my post have some pretty dumb ideas. Kinda let the wind out of my sails a bit but I will keep trying to think up stupid things for my defender.

I've never understood spending all that money on a vinyl sticker when you can get something that's little more work, works fine and only costs about $10. Spray paint.

Vigg is a good guy and the Disco and other black out hoods are great. All of the Disco guys I run with use them. Honestly I have yet to get any noticeable glare from my 4 Hellas. This is due to the hood being so flat and not as angles and rounded as the Disco. But that being said they do reduce glare a lot from what I have seen.

I will second the notion that Vigg is a good guy/company. I've done business with them several times and they have excellent customer service. They are one of the best vendors out there in my opinion. I'm not a fan of the Defender hood blackout look but the ones I've bought for my Discos fit well, are high quality and look good.
