Do you say the same buyer beware statement about Copley or ecr? To me when spending top dollar I want to be able to rely on the reputation of the seller and not have to worry. Now I have no clue what is said by current owners of these trucks or what their actual quality is. I just am looking at the build and what I see as issues for the money.

No buyer is asking me for my opinion on this but we are on a forum with purists so it's a discussion.
X2 My opinion is my own...

I'm not saying a 97 door won't hold up well enough if you are careful but for a 145k I want the new style rear door with a true rubber seal on the glass and I want a real full td5 dash instead of a mud uk td5 style dash painted silver. It's just cheap crap when you consider the money spent on the hood and the grill and all the other pieces of flare bolted on. I would also expect the rear capping to be painted separate from the tub and then riveted on. Granted I'm not the intended audience for this truck but there is something to be said for perceived quality vs actual quality.

This one is much much better than that Himalaya stuff. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Land-Rover-D...US_Cars_Trucks This Restoration Took 18 Months With Over $90,000 Invested

No ones. It's a forum and just like you what I post is opinion not fact. You take it for what it is.

I stand by what I posted about this truck. You really can't argue a reason the truck still has the old crappy doors and a cheap dash when it has a puma hood and the wolds most expensive grill.

IMO. This community is comprised of Defender enthusiast. I believe everyone has the right to do what they want with their truck until it ends up in the "Hall of Shame of "Land Rovers that Suck"" thread.

In the search for my current truck I spoke to many active members of this board one off and surprisingly many here have modernized "Himalayan" type trucks sitting next to their purist truck. I myself are am a fan both and will eventually have a custom modern truck built to my requirements. I agree there IS something unique about a pure original truck as stated above but at the same time there's nothing wrong with taking your obsession and applying modern amenities to suit ones needs.

To each their own and at the end of the day we own Defenders because we want to and we are on these board because this is the best Defender community that exist.

Again this is just my opinion so don't shoot me or key my truck.

I know as I was looking at the pictures I was thinking "wow, that truck is really really white" then I started having a Brad Pitt "Whats in the Box!?!" moment.

HAHAHA I love these threads but really never understand the hate parade. Seems the community is always aghast when they run into a defender that screams unattainable and are quick to tear it apart. If I had $150K to wipe my ass with I might buy this truck, and two more, and a lambo... till then I think I'll just bite my tongue on aesthetics and price

How is the headliner mounted? I don't see any clips.

------ Follow up post added April 2nd, 2014 06:00 PM ------

I think the dash and interior in general is a bit junky given the price and they should have gone with a set of Kahn or Sawtooth wheels instead of Range Rover wheels they likely picked up for next to nothing.

I totally get that, and I'm with you (especially here since I am pretty unimpressed by the upgrades and the price tag), but I still think this truck looks pretty clean regardless of my take on the panoramic side glass and the tinfoil front roll bar. I think at half the asking price this would be less of an issue...

Plus you gotta figure that Himalaya is building trucks that guys (or ladies?) want or they wouldn't look like this or demand this kind of asking price...

Himalaya #2 on Ebay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Land-Rover-D...US_Cars_Trucks

Must have gotten a deal on grey paint.
Things noticed:

-not a real td5 dash
-no high back rear seats
-used unrestored brake master and brake booster with rusty bolt
-bracket missing on radiator overflow tank
-Paint on bottom of hood doesn't have the same finish as the exterior

But what the hell the truck is only 6 figures so non of this stuff should matter.
