FS: 2008 Pre-Production Mustang Bullitt (TN)

Well, I guess since I am selling this to buy a Defender, I should probably post it here too...

Own a piece of history!

In 1968, Steve McQueen charged across the screen in the critically acclaimed movie “Bullitt“, which featured one of the best car chase scenes in all of Hollywood’s history. However, one of the biggest characters in the movie never had any speaking lines – a 1968 390 V8 Ford Mustang GT Fastback painted in, of course, hunter green.

40 years later, Ford released the 2008 Bullitt Edition Mustang GT, but before that, they wanted to ensure people would be interested in purchasing such a thing. So they built a series of about 20 pre-production vehicles to use at the LA Auto Show, in publicity photos, and one lucky vehicle even got to reproduce some of the iconic chase scene. The pre-production cars are mechanically and functionally identical to the final production run of Bullitts (which, in turn, are identical to Mustang GTs… only better), but they’re a pretty select crowd indeed.

I bought this car from a Mazda dealership up around Chicago towards the end of 2009, and they apparently got it from an auto auction clearinghouse; apparently no one really knew what they had. Since then, I have performed all the required maintenance, changed its oil every ~3000 miles, and moderately upgraded its appearance and performance. Please note that all modifications listed below are easily reversible in about two hours, total, should you choose to do so.

The Bullitt is mechanically and functionally sound, I have all of the maintenance documentation and paperwork for it, and it is a total blast to drive. So why am I selling this awesome car, if there’s nothing mechanically or aesthetically wrong with it? Simple: it does not have four wheel drive, clearance to get over much more than a speed bump, or space to hold a lot more than carry-on luggage – it *is*, after all, a Mustang. We’re moving soon, and I think it is time for something a little more… functional. That decision is your gain, though.

Asking Price: $22,500 OBO

Included Mustang Options:
- 4.5L V8 engine.
- In-dash factory navigation with integrated, satellite-ready 6-CD changer.
- HID headlights.
- Footwell illumination.

Bullitt Features:
- Dark Highland Green Paint.
- Completely debadged from the factory.
- Custom-tuned exhaust (from the factory) built to emulate the 1968 Fastback.
- 3.5 inch chrome exhaust tips.
- Aluminum Bullitt wheels.
- Different engine programming increases horsepower to 315hp.
- 3.73:1 gears.
- Front strut brace.
- Ford Racing suspension.
- 6500RPM redline
- 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds.
- Tremec 5-speed manual transmission.
- Cold air intake.
- Satin aluminum bezels and gear shifter.
- “Bullitt”-labeled sill plates
- GT-500-inspired leather steering wheel and leather seats.
- Machine-turned aluminum dash.
- Tire repair / inflation kit.

The good:
- One of approximately 22 pre-production 2008 Bullitts, serial number 1PP10.
- One of only 7000 2008 Bullitts.
- DG Custom Auto paint-matched louvers installed.
- New(ish) (15,000 miles on them) Pirelli PZero Nero All Season tires.
- Llumar 30% tint on side, quarter, and rear windows.
- American Muscle LED 3rd Brake Light installed (still have the original equipment).
- JLT Oil Separator installed for the past 2 years / 30,000 miles (still have the original equipment).
- R2C Bullitt High Performance Air Filter installed and cleaned every other oil change.
- Custom serial number dash plate.
- Silver Horse Racing lower grill inserts installed.
- I have the no-drill internal trunk release kit, but have not installed it yet.
- Wired for an almost-no-visible-wire Escort radar detector installation.
- All weather floor mats with integrated deadpedal (in the car since day 1).
- Fender Gripper trunk mat (in the car since day 1).
- Air conditioning recently recharged/serviced.
- Religious and documented maintenance and oil changes.
- Documented fuel logs since day 1.

The bad:
- In May of 2010, the Bullitt was in an accident that necessitated the replacement of basically everything on the front-left side of the car: fender, bumper, wheel, tire, suspension, hood, etc. The repairs were professionally completed by the Collision Center at Mercedes-Benz of Knoxville on Parkside Drive (a USAA-authorized repair center), and you cannot tell it ever happened.
- The car has been my daily driver, and has minor wear to the left bolster of the driver’s seat, some minor scratches around the driver’s door handle, and a few minor chips on the leading edge of the hood and bumper; I have tried to photograph and document all of this (additional photos on request).
- 65,500+ miles (this will increase the longer the listing is up).

No warranty is implied or stated on this vehicle. I have attempted to represent it in the most honest and factual way possible. Please contact me if you have any questions.

NO TRADES PLEASE; the replacement vehicle has already been purchased. Willing to consider partial payment in firearms, ammunition, or precious metals. Willing to work with shippers, at your cost. The car is located in Knoxville, TN, but may move to Raleigh, NC if it does not sell before we move.

Supposedly my D90 will be delivered today or tomorrow; not really holding my breath, but, if so, this Mustang needs to go. $20,000 OBO; if you are at all interested, make an offer.

$19,000, OBO. I'd like this car gone by the end of the month, if possible.
