Friend of my cousin's 1981 VW Rabbit Diesel

From the seller -> I am trying to sell my 1981 VW Rabbit Diesel. It has about 20,000 miles on the original engine. It is in Excellent condition. Virtually no service rust. The underside has been coated with polyglycoat (I have the lifetime warranty for this). It is Green with a tan leather (Vinyl) interior. The interior looks brand new. The headliner was replaced by previous owner. The car still has the original owner's manual, hub caps, and floor mats. I am asking 6,000 OBO for it.

This is a friend of my cousin's. The car looks new, I've seen it in person and ridden in it. Ridiculous fuel economy! He's selling due to moving to Manhattan and not needing a car anymore. Car is currently in Ocean Township, NJ (I saw it when I was stuck there when my water pump blew on I-95).

PM me for contact info (not sure if he wanted me to post his email)

Man that takes me back. My dad had an 81 four door rabbit, but it was white with blue interior.

haha I had one of those. I bought it from a little old lady for $400 because it was running rough and she thought the motor was trashed. One bottle of diesel cleaner later it was running fine and I put 50K miles on it before selling it for $1800.

Nice price or crack pipe?

I'd say the latter. I'm a diehard vw fan who drives an 86 diesel golf as my daily driver, but 6k is a lot of cheddar for one of those even with low mileage..

This has to be the same car I've seen parked on Cookman Ave in Asbury Park. Assuming it is, it's very clean in person.

20K miles???? it's still new! I had one that, although not dead, started to give me too much grief - at either 180,000 or 280,000. 40+ mpg all day and night. I was sad to see it go - wife. not so much.

it makes my 200tdi feel fast.

Apparently he quite literally got it 'from a little old lady who only drove it on sundays to church and the market'.

He loves it, only reason he's selling is moving into NYC. Let's make this happen!
