it seems ok to me but I would be worried about the internal rust. What do you think it would cost to strip and powder coat it?

THat would be me. Shipping (LTL I think) will be around $350 to me.

Do I officially get my "Vulture Wings" now?

I'm sure if Josh needed one, he'd have sniped it sooner (maybe because it's his birthday he wasn't focused on buying parts).

Shipping should be cheaper. ABF gives 70 percent off listed rates for people with accounts. You must know somebody with an account.

ABF? I don't know anyone to think of asking, but I'm not in a hurry, so it cantake its time. Cheaper the better, provided it doesn't show up looking like a pretzel

See if the guy will drop it at an ABF facility and have it delivered for will call at your local facility. Use the proper class for "steel parts". Insure it. When you call for the quote demand the 65-70 percent off. Tell them I have a friend that said so

I just did UShip.com for a 110 basket from VA to TX. It was $200.

Pay someone to crate it! Don't just strap it to a skid a call it good. It doesn't have to be fully enclosed, however it does need to be skeleton crated. Dock drop-off/pickup will save you money.

Hasn't there been a NAS 110 one for sale on CT CL for like $4-450 for months?

For just baskets, I wrap in moving blankets and shrink wrap. Building a crate is a waste of effort and adds to the weight and dimensions = higher shipping costs. I just mark my BOLs top load and mark the package top load as well.

Full basket kits get a crate though...

I ran SearchTempest several times and never saw that come up, but I trust your Jedi-Google skills more than mine.

There was one that a guy was asking $900 or $1,000 for in CT (on CL), but that's a bit different than $450. Is that what you were thinking of?

I spoke to the seller. Cool guy. Just sold his '95 D-90 and has #70/500 (110) with a Safety Devices rack so this rack has been in a storage locker for 10 years (in TX). He's going to drop it of at a logistics hub after arranging shipping through either U-ship or FreightQuote.com. He's talking like $150-$200 for shipping, so I'll insure it for $1,000 and prolly pay another $100 just for peace of mind.

Any thoughts on what it would cost to pallet that thing?

DO NOT USE freightquote.com!!! You will overpay and will likely have your shipment reclassed and/or overbilled.

Thanks Jonathan. That's good information.
(I still have not mounted/used those multi-use clamps I bought from you, but I think I'll end up using them to mount this basket, if not definately for something else - those things are a great solution. you should make another run of those at some point)
