Customized Defender Clock

Hi all!

Fist off I want to say that I'm a 5 year owner of a Defender 90 (94 NAS).

I just designed a clock for myself using a well know triathlon logo. My wife thought I should do the same with a Defender theme. Any suggestions? I was thinking of using a Land Rover Logo and having the clock look like a Defender's speedometer. I was going to ask you guys before doing one.

My Defender needs a replacment distributor, big time (see my old posts). And I have NO MONEY to buy one. I can make these clocks for about $8. Since each one will take about 15 minutes or so to build, and then go to the post office to ship out, I'd like to charge $15 plus shipping. Real shipping cost, not a cheesy $14.99 S&H or whatever... I'd guess around $2 or $3.

Any thoughts? Stupid idea? I'm hoping if I can sell enough of them I can buy a distributor!!!!

Here's the one I already made that's hanging in my office.

Hell, I'd buy one to help a fellow owner keep his Defender on the road. I like the idea of copying the speedo.

Byron, how does this look?

http://ironmanclock.shutterfly.com/24

I can pretty much do anything you'd like....any color background and font (for the numbers). I was even thinking it would look cool with a dirt background.

If it's good I'll print it up tomorrow. Thanks!!

Stephen, I'm not sure about that halo around the lettering in the logo, maybe this logo would work better? Also, what about a dark face with silver numbers and either this same logo or the black and silver one off the supercharged cars? Just a few thoughts of things to try...

Ok great! I'm having fun with this. I now have a small portfolio for you guys to look thru. However, I couldn't find anything on line for the black/silver one.

Check these out...

I looked, but I can't find what I might have done with it. I used to have a high res. image of the Black and Silver logo...

Anyway, I think this one might look really cool with this distressed leather image for the background, and I like this one too, but I think it might look a little better if we can track down the black/silver logo (or create it in photoshop).

Anyone have a closeup photo of a Defender's Speedo? My Defender is in my parent's shed in another town for the winter. If not, I'll drive up this weekend and take some shots.

Follow-up Post:

How's this for starts?

I like all of them. My only suggestion would be to add D90 or Defender somewhere on the clock. I failed art class so that will conclude my input! Oh, and count me in for one as money to help a fellow defender owner is money well spent.

Thanks Keith! I'll count you in. Be sure to check back in a few days to see the revisions.

I'll try to slip a D90 or DEFENDER in there somehow and keep it rustic looking. For those who would rather NOT have that, that's fine too.

To all: All of these will be available so let me know which ones to mail you. And thanks so much everyone for your awesome support! I hope to have the D90 up and running by spring-time!

-Steve

PS: Keep the suggestions flowing. What if I used the Defender badge that we have on the rear? This link is a good one that I found online that I can work with, or I can take a snapshot of mine this weekend.

I was thinking about that, that could be cool too. Running with Keith's suggestion, maybe you could find something distinctively defender to put in place of the 12? BTW, I was searching for something else and found this too. Its just pure coincidence its off a 110!

Or, maybe people could take pics of their actual plates and email them to you!

I'll take one for sure, possibly two. Just need to figure out which one.

The defender badge is a cool idea and I really dig the old logo on the leather background.

How about a G4 challenge edition or a camel trophy edition?

Does this make any sense: traditional LR logo for the face and small "items" for the numbers, or at least at 12,3,6,& 9,( if it gets too busy) ie: 90 rear plaque, 110 rear plaque, Series placard, CT logo, G4 logo, TReK logo, etc,
Great idea, and a fun thread- Thanks!! I'm in for at least two as well- Paypal address please...
