What have you read? Their eBay ads? Lots of info here if you search around...

I'll get you started though.

https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...e.com&safe=off

they may look "nice" for a little bit, but even the paint begins to bubble rather quickly because the proper prep work wasn't done beforehand.

Your hyperlink isn't working for some reason. Might need to correct it.

probably because you're not using Chrome. Basically I just googled (in quotes) ["landroversuk.co.uk" and site:www.defendersource.com]

Hi all - thoughts on this one? Takes a pretty (exterior) picture, but no pics of her potential problem areas... Or even the interior. I emailed asking for more pics but thought I'd see if anyone here had any thoughts too. Thanks!

1988 Land Rover Defender 110 Stationwagon 3.5 V8

ETA: It's probably obvious that I'm not the owner, but just to be clear. Also wanted to add at least one pic so it's here when the link dies.

Thanks for the input truly!

I will have to ask tomorrow about any association. The add says AEON exotics is the company.

Yes the doors have been repaired and some other items have been repaired and then the paint has been applied along with many bolts and parts of the exhaust pipe, hose clamps, etc. I did see bubbling under the paint on the exterior of parts of the doors and it is freshly painted. There are some rivets that look new behind the rear doors on the exterior panels and I didn't realize those are exposed normally?

The engine looks and runs with turbo and sounds smooth through all gears. How do I know the turbo is in good order? Oil pan has not a drop of oil on it and the owner does do car repairs but it seems different than the main case. It is a 19J.

I am a bit concerned as the speedometer was not turning though. Is this a simple connection that has come apart and easy to fix or would it be something that would have to be taken of intentionally? So the engine has 100K but the truck is not technically recording the miles it is doing. Lots to think about for sure. Another thing I noticed is the roof pop up sun panel has been caulked so as not to leak. Is this common?

Tires look good (General brand) and the rims are newer discovery types with spacers. How can I know these are safe spacers and not crap and will roll off the axle someday? They are aluminum I believe. The rims are powder-coated too and look good.

Cosmetically, the rig looks nice and is pretty clean. The frame looks to have a heck of a lot LESS rust than some I have seen and very few areas that seem to have issues even though it has been coated within a year. Let me say that I have seen a couple that were for sale and the owner's have said minor or surface rust and I can see entire layers peeling off or actual disintegration in many areas. There are some other spots like the rear door frame (minor) and around the bumper connects. All bolts on rear door hinges are replaced too. Rubber has been replace around doors and windows and seals look replaced. Interior looks good and would only need some clean up. Headliner and carpets are redone too. Majority of work was done in England through owners connection and then brought over for other repairs I guess less than a year ago.

Seems to have put some money into the repairs for sure but as I believe Josh said I would rather have a mechanically solid rig than a sexy beast!

So that is the question I face. To mechanically evaluate a 25 year old rig to become my DD........Drop a few bucks on trust. Would love to learn from anyone that has failed so I don't have to travel that road.

Found a Facebook page for a company matching that description started 13 months ago. Couldn't find a corporation with that name at Secretary of State's office.
Someone saying it's their operation did register here. http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...0-a-57530.html

3.5v8 with a timing belt is interesting.

That truck has really shiny paint.

I can not tell about the springs. The photos do not show up well on my phone.

The steering wheel could be defender - the grill is definitely defender. The claimed age is Stage One S3 109. The windshield says Series. Probably a typical bitzer.

$11k may not be bad if the motor and frame are good enough.
