I got a response from the seller and he said he was in the UK with his family and that the truck was in the possession of Autobytel and sent me a fraudulent link explaining that Autobytel does an escrow service basically. Well if you go to their website, they clearly state that they do not and that there are individuals who have fraudulently using their name and claiming to offer an escrow service. Here's what he wrote me:

The car(title included) is in Autobytel possession. They will ship the vehicle and transfer the ownership on my behalf. So for our both security and insurance that nothing will go wrong, our deal will be done under Autobytel surveillance:
Autobytel | New Car Prices

Your payment will go directly to Autobytel, they will receive and secure your funds until you will receive and inspect the vehicle. You will have a 3 days inspection period. If you like it, you'll approve the payment, they will pay me and transfer the ownership, if not, you'll reject the vehicle. In this case Autobytel will refund your money and pick it up from you.

Land Rover Defender 110

Thoughts please? Nice looking rig and runs well. Since I have been searching for a long time could this be the one.

Looks pretty good initially - I'd give a serious look over! I wonder how old the paint is? The door bottoms look like they have some quick repairs, so I wonder what their condition really is, along with the bulkhead and such! Won't know till you look at it, so let us know what the outcome is! Good luck with the search!!

X2 re the craftsmanship double check. Given this a shop that preps and flips these trucks it would be nice, and telling, if they have build photos and documentation. If not then I would wonder why. Door panels can be removed to check what the door bottoms look like on the inside obviously. We all know what it costs to repair or replace doors. Not fun.

Looks like a truck "built" by the company formerly known as landroversuk.co.uk (now known as Arkonik) who do not have the best reputation.

I'd much rather own a truck that looks like hell but is mechanically sound rather than one that looks great but runs like hell.

What have you read? Their eBay ads? Lots of info here if you search around...

I'll get you started though.

https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...e.com&safe=off

they may look "nice" for a little bit, but even the paint begins to bubble rather quickly because the proper prep work wasn't done beforehand.

and a quote to wet your appetite

Your hyperlink isn't working for some reason. Might need to correct it.

probably because you're not using Chrome. Basically I just googled (in quotes) ["landroversuk.co.uk" and site:www.defendersource.com]

Hi all - thoughts on this one? Takes a pretty (exterior) picture, but no pics of her potential problem areas... Or even the interior. I emailed asking for more pics but thought I'd see if anyone here had any thoughts too. Thanks!

1988 Land Rover Defender 110 Stationwagon 3.5 V8

ETA: It's probably obvious that I'm not the owner, but just to be clear. Also wanted to add at least one pic so it's here when the link dies.

It still needs to be imported, so make sure the frame isn't galvanized, and the engine corresponds to the vin.
