Rsov

INTERESTING.... If it is legit, i wonder how he got it? From a police department or military auction? Considering that you can barely get a HUMMV with a street legal title, i doubt it came street legal if was straight from military. If it came from a police department, i can could see it having all the paperwork together, possibly.

Here is the ebay auction http://www.ebay.com/itm/Land-Rover-D...m=152200298265

the VIN that he has put in: salldhf8ja907589
The VIN is missing a number or something. Hard to tell if its a 1992 (which makes sense) i think that probably around when they first entered service, or an actual 2002 with a TD5 engine

Comparing it to actual photos of an RSOV, it seems like like all the features are there. Seems like the real thing or a good replica.

Looks very authentic. Did you plug in the VIN that is pictured, or the one he listed? And why would a 2002 vehicle have a 200tdi?

Also, the gap between the front and rear roll bars is not correct. They should have a turret there with mounts for .50 cal or grenade launcher.

I cant see the ebay photos due to weird internet here...
The gap is from the turret ring being removed, it seems.

What is the VIN in the photos? Can you post some f the detailed photos?
It would make sense if it was a 1992 with a 200tdi. 1992 is when the rangers adopted the truck

Salldhaf8ja907589 Isn't this a 1988 but registered as a 2002?

RSOV

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranger...ations_Vehicle

02 is likely the year it was released from military service. My understanding was these were not to ever make it into civilian hands.

Yeah, this raises all kinds of questions--pretty sure DRMO isn't selling these at auction, at least without de-mil-ing them first (taking a torch to the frame or something like that) . . . totally bizarre that this apparently real-deal RSOV is apparently legally registered and out on the street.

And even more bizarre that it's apparently owned by someone who knows absolutely nothing about Land Rovers--seems like if a vehicle like this (sort of the Pink Panther of its day) squeaked through the system and hit the street, it'd be in the hands of a foaming-at-the mouth enthusiast.

Would love to know the backstory. And what he's got the reserve set at. If this thing is legit and in good shape, seems like it'd be worth a king's ransom, as it's probably the. only. one. that will ever hit the civilian market.

Not that I've seen. Without seeing the frame it's tough to say for sure, but there are some components on that truck that are tricky to replicate. Looks like the real deal.

Last I heard the EPA owned an RSOV, but after they completely killed off all life for hundreds of miles when they fucked up the entire Gold King Mine "clean-up" efforts, they realized they should concentrate all of their resources to eliminating Defenders.

In 2013 I spotted this at the Golden, CO police station. Someone said they were using it for training exercises very infrequently and it spent most of its time sitting. Kicking myself that I missed its liquidation...

Looks like it's probably for real, then. Should be able to look up the info on the sale from the Golden PD, as I would think that would be public info.
