Yes! I saw that ad also and contacted him. The guy is ex royal navy, and a super nice and welcoming guy. He invited me down to the shop where they were workin on a NAS 90 and a series. You wouldn't believe the cars they have tucked away in this shop.... but call Chris if you're interested in a build or sourcing parts. He's knowledgeable and connected.

Edited due to posting from the blackberry minutes after waking up...

Anyhow, the crew over there had attracted the attention/work of people with all kinds of projects. Definitely not a "one trick pony" type of place, but Chirs (who posted that ad) is the Defender guy, no doubt. Apparently he has a line on a number of series trucks coming in they are restoring for mid price-point buyers that should be awesome weekend runabouts.

If this is the Chris I have spoken to, then I know a little about this. He came from a Land Rover restoration shop somewhere around Austin and was hired to manage the restoration part of precision Autobody. He has worked on / around Landy's for years and this seems like a new venture / partnership for him. The first time I was there, I was amazed with the amt of exotics they have tucked into their shop. Mostly European. These guys are doing the paint on my 68' xke, but are just starting, so waiting to see.... I spoke to several people prior to making the decision and they got good reviews.

It looks like the same people as Heritage Vehicle Sales in the UK but I think they advertise that truck for $28K US

2.4L BMW-powered ROW D90 $16k

VIN SALLDVAC7AA217240

1984 Land Rover Defender

1984 Land Rover Defender - $16000 (North Phoenix)

1984 Right hand drive Land Rover Defender 90. Legally imported. Licensed, titled, and plated in Arizona. Classic car exemption for emissions in Arizona. Tires appear relatively new. Seats appear to be nearly new with rare, forward facing rear sets with shoulder belts. Before it was imported, the prior owners replaced the weak original Land Rover engine for a 2.4L BMW turbodiesel engine. Because of the transplant, it is unclear what is the actual mileage of the engine. Bought it on Ebay less than 3months ago but don't have the time and patience to work on it. From what I see, it needs a good tune-up (smokes) and a backyard mechanic to get the electrics (one of the turn lights, dashboard lights) and trim issues (hinge adjustments, window seals, etc) sorted out. $16000 OBO

I just bought a defender from Chris and had him do some work for me on the new truck. As I'm a complete novice, I'm having a shop go through it and so will withhold my complete recommendation until I get back that assessment, but so far he has been an absolute standup guy to deal with. Goes above and beyond to deliver and is extremely responsive (even after a barrage of annoying questions from me). Again, haven't had the truck gone through yet, but so far wouldn't hesitate to recommend him and his shop. They've got e types, very rare Astons, and a bunch of defenders they're working on.

The upholstery work on the seats was super nice. They were in Chris' office when I saw them but the material felt great and the stitching was done very well. My next upholstery job will be contracted through them based on your seats alone. Enjoy!

nice - but there is a lot going on in that one..3/5door not exactly sure where you sleep in it.. other than the mungo bench seat on the drivers side.. but nice none the less.. and some good ideas for a expo truck. but i'd rather have a shell back like shanes 4 dr or an ambulance body 3 dor
