If anyone wants this one, I'd say there's some room to negotiate:

Happy to break even:
$12,500 vehicle
$3208.50 uncle Doug import
$600 port fee given 30d to clear
$350 haul from port
$650 haul to NC for needed repairs
$Brian for working out the kinks

So, call it $17,308.50 plus whatever you want/need Brewie to do.

My bad, I wasn't intentionally trying to wreck a board members sale....rather was trying to help a buyer (which I wish was me. I'm a huge accidental dick on Christmas. Was just searching around for hi-caps and came up on that post. I didn't even bother to read the whole thread.

I would actually LOVE to have this truck.... but then I'd have to part with my beater NAS90.

No need to apologize at all. We decided to list it in NC, where the truck sits, to see if someone was interested before I start another project with Brian. If I break even, I will focus on my other trucks and projects. If not, I will start another one off - LS, galvanized chassis... (Maybe)

Despite the craigslist location, the truck is in southern NJ. Looks like it has not been cleaned since 1998, but the few vital portions that he does share look quite nice if not sprayed.

Thoughts?

This sentence is troubling... "...new rear diamond plate bumper..."
Most likely the rear crossmember is shot.

I think the ad says south jersey. Not sure why they put it in DC CL. Other than that it looks like a jump in with both feet type of project. Cash in hand and a trailer in tow is the way to win this one. God prices are nuts.

My auto correct turned a mispelled "recommend" into that " rec Ok MD" mess. But anyone close by to take a look for a couple $?

I would also ask for better pictures of the known areas of concern. It has been wheeled for sure.

Looking at pics a bit closer - I don't like the diamond rear bumper ot gigantic hood plate. Also looks like it might be lifted - meaning it won't fit in my garage. I do like that it's auto, don't like the dent. My limited experience has me thinking this is not a 40k example.

What I was trying to say is that thing looks like a long painful diy project but the way to work it is bring $x of cash and something to take it home with. It's not, IMO, a vehicle worth debating value on because it needs a ton of work. It not IMO worth even half what he's asking. Life is too short.

Will sell for 30-35. As long as fully restored, chassis up restorations sell for $100k, these will remain "good buys." 97 auto opens up many other drivers.

Why is everybody so afraid of the diamond plate hood and wing pieces? Even if there are 200 dents under it you can buy a NTO hood for $500 or you could find a good body guy to hammer it out and somebody with a spool gun to weld up the holes.

For me the slope just past original/genuine is a slippery one and never ending. Again, for me it's like a big bag of Lays. One regular serving is never enough. . But I agree with you, in principal there are a ton of other more frightening skeletons in that closet to be thinking about before the 5-bar.
