Stage ones were all v8. Someone took a NA diesel SW painted it yellow, added defender hood grill and wheel arches, brown church 91 series roof rack and raided Home Depot for snorkel bits. Plus painted the bumper black and added a ct style brush guard. A coil conversion with tdi or v8 seems appropriate. Very few series are worth $29k. This one isn't.
A friend of mine runs a land rover / range rover specialty repair shop. Based on his experience, they are capable of stopping anywhere, anytime, at any cost.
I don't know about the brakes, only their unreliability.
