Is this knife assisted opening..i see the little button on the side, is that a lock or spring assist..

You're correct- that is the blade release as it is an "assisted" blade. Not a full auto, but not a manual. Great knife, been carrying the identical one in my EDC kit for a long time and survived many a trips. It even spent a couple hours at the bottom of the Dead Sea and is still a champ.
