awesome winch, not mine

I have been searching for a winch to buy and I came across this one. Way more winch than I need but I'm sure someone here needs this monster. It's up on ebay too if you need better pics. He has it starting at 6 there but 800 sounds like a good deal.

I decided on the 9,8ti version, now replaced with cTi I think. I think that combining several functions on a single device is asking for trouble. As someone pointed out to me a while back, you don't use your winch every day, but when you really need it you really, really, want it to work.

I haven't looked at the warn combo winch, but I'd be really surprised if it's designed in such a way that if the compressor dies the winch would be dead. But suppose the compressor does die. Can you remove the compressor to send it off for repair and still have a functioning winch?
If not then you're without a winch because your compressor is getting worked on. That could be bad. Also, what does it cost to replace the compressor? I bet it's not cheap.

Ok, I was wrong, I just looked at the parts diagram to see how the Powerplant winch is designed.
