I'm actually curious as to how they got the vehicle past US Customs in the first place? Exemptions for show and display have to be approved by NHTSA prior to import, and this Defender is not on the list of vehicles with petitions pending as of November 30, 2015. (see link below)

http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/impo...11_30_2015.pdf

If the seller is a non-US resident, then I'd wager that it is here in the US under a declaration of temporary import. If that is the case, then it will be required to leave the US after 1-year. (see link and excerpt below)

http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/impo...nchor-15-15421

"14. Temporary importation by non-U.S. residents.

Nonresidents of the U.S. (including U.S. citizens living abroad) may temporarily import nonconforming motor vehicles into the U.S. for personal use, for a period not to exceed one year. The vehicle must be registered in a country other than the U.S. at the time of entry, must not be sold while it is in the U.S., and must be exported when the year is up. If you wish to import your vehicle under these conditions, you should check Box 5 on the HS-7 Declaration Form to be given to Customs at the time of entry. Your passport number and the country that issued the passport must be specified on the declaration. An international convention governs the importation of these vehicles. The U.S. is a signatory to this convention. The convention provides that vehicles can be imported under its terms for a period of up to one year. NHTSA has no authority to extend the one-year period that a vehicle imported in this manner is allowed to remain in the U.S.

Besides the fact that we both look like we came off some sort of all-night bender, you can actually see my 90 over his left shoulder in the pic.
Lav, you can be straight with us. That was one of those cardboard cutouts, wasn't it!

Ironically, the cardboard cutout was of me...Carini was actually real.

We should have used this cutout:

I looked last night and it was listed as sold, but it was POA if you wanted to know it. Wierd. It took some searching to find it. IIRC correctly I went to another site whose link took me to the listing.

Of all the options I understand Box 7 "training or competition" exception is the least difficult to achieve. But that doesn't explain the $200K price rage for a vehicle that has to leave the country, and same can be had for 120K in ROW.... Unless its a BT Barnum type plan
