V8 gas auto with a tdi wing? Either way, it doesn't sound like a 84 to me. I love the woof wheels though!

The same guy was selling a 109/110 LHD conversion earlier this year. He also had a bunch of rover parts for sale on another board.

Anyone ever go look at this truck? Looks like it might be listed as an 85 now for $7k.

I wish I wasn't over 2000 miles away.

I'm interested in your thoughts and any pics you can share. I'm located in Monterey and was planning to call Walt today to discuss. My wife has given me the 'greenlight' to pick this up as my 'starter' Defender if it's reasonable and not a basket case.

Let me know.

I'd shop elsewhere personally.

The 90 is registered as a diesel, but has a 3.9 with a ZF auto installed. Everything is kind of mix match, and if you go see his place, you will understand. There are vehicles and parts growing all over the place It needs cleaning up the auto install, as it looks unfinished a bit.The cage is not a roll bar, just a hoop set up with pads, and hood. It rained all the time I was there, and 350 of the 450 miles, and the camera I had does not do well when wet, sorry. For the price, you can have an easy to drive ride, that just needs a bit of finish work. I went to look at the Chinook body on the 109 Galvy leaf sprung frame with a low mile 300Tdi.If some one want to part it out, its available. It has a r380, with a GNK OD switchable on the fly, and rear Salisbury with ARB installed. The engine starts right up instantly, with no glow plugs installed, but do come with it. There was no smoke on start up. The camper just needs way too much work, but also comes with stock body, and has extra tanks and anything else you may want available. Heck if you need something, there's at least 1 good one somewhere around.Very nice guy, don't be in a rush, he likes to talk about everything.

To all the PM's I received, you could not put this one together for this price, so I think it would be worth that easy. Walt has some health issues, and wants out now. Be positive when talking tohim, and offer a few bucks less, he will probably go for it. If you want a low mileage 300TDi buy his camper and part it out and make a few bucks.I have a lifting roof for a 110 to refurbish, and about 3 pallets of parts to screw with leaving the UK in a week, other wise I would buy the 90 and clean it up myself. I just don't have the space or time. With his price drop, either one wont be here long.
Good Luck
Greg

Greg-

Thanks for the feedback - much appreciated. I'm on the fence - I've sent you a PM.
