1955 Series 1 for 1000

I'm posting this on behalf of Maryland 110 who was notified of this vehicle for sale in the UK. Peter's email reproduced below:

I mentioned this S1 to you (pics attached) and said I would send details.

It is 1955 - 86" model

Good points - It is in relatively untouched, original condition - as it came 'off the farm' - with an original 2000cc petrol engine. It has not been on the road for some years but has been driven around the farm fairly regularly. The chassis is visually in good condition. The engine starts and runs well and it changes through the gears smoothly - there don't seem to be any knocks or strange noises. Bodywork is in fair condition with only comparatively minor dents.

Bad points - The whole thing needs a complete renovation program. I think it was once owned by a local authority - hence the beautiful paint job!! The battery doesn't charge. The wiring has been altered and added to. The brakes 'work' but pull wildly to one side - I assume one of the wheel cylinders is seized?? Back lights have been replaced (I think the lights are the only non-original parts). The horn push boss is broken, with a piece missing. The bulkhead is corroded with an aluminium plate under the pedals, which points to corrosion on the footwell. I think the bulkhead will repair but could need replacing - they are available over here. ( don't know how much they cost).

Price: GBP1,000.00 - At the moment exchanges at USD$1.598 (a good exchange for you!!)

If you are not satisfied with your current shippers - we could organise shipping - we ship regular containers of antiques to Atlanta, so know what we are doing.

I have tried to give you a fair description of the landy - I don't sell much on E-bay but have a good reputation there. If you need a further reference I can put you in touch with my client in Atlanta.

If you are interested - I will answer any questions you throw at me, or take more pics etc

Regards

Thanks Charles. I suck @ re-sizing pictures. I thought it was a neat little truck and while I have no need for it thought someone here might @ this price. ibought a Sankey trailer from the guy a couple of months ago. He even delivered it to the shippers in Liverpool for me.

Throw in a good bulkhead and I'll buy it. I'm learning alot about rebuilding those old 2 liter motors.

This is one of my dream deal.
Although I always wanted a 107"

I did drop the seller a line, just out of curiosity, to know if the truck is still there...

Anybody want a KTM ADV 640???

I just got the email with pictures yesterday morning so its safe to assume the truck is still available. The seller Peter is a good guy. His wife fell down the stairs and broke her leg back in August and even through all of that he was a joy to deal with on the Sankey trailer- unlike many Brits.

Cirbo- you have the ability to make a new bulkhead- better than original- from tuna cans. Buy it.

I have a new valve seat and a good head and a bunch of parts off of a 1.6 motor (most is the same as 2.0 litre) that is beyond repair if you need anything Cirbo.
