Gonna have to agree with the above comment. If my Defender mechanic gave me a bill for $9k in labor for the work shown, I would shit a brick!

Once again, nobody is knocking ECRs work. I have always admired it and I always will, but the cost of labor puts it out of my price range. I would love to send my SW to them to bring it to complete 100% stock condition.

I have noticed that whenever there is an issue with ECR on here, it does not go over with them very well. Does anyone else remember the pissing contest about ECRs racks and the ones Wolf was making and Lelo is currently? (Also, Lelo, I'm gonna buy that rack eventually)

Lastly, why the hell have I not been following this thread all day?

I know I don't post much especially in situations like this but posting Jackie's personal info was not cool. Mike you should remove that post or the Mods should.

About time someone showed their true colors. And I thought the NE boatyard we are in was bad(name rhymes with Brinkley). One reason yacht owners hire captains is to constantly look over the yards shoulder in order to avoid Jackie's exact situation. Car enthusiast shouldn't have to do the same. That being said, Jackie knowingly or not took his truck to ECR, the best and most expensive Rover garage on the planet where I think, not unlike boat yards, they love teaching the new guy a lesson when it comes time to pay the bill. Weeds out the budget minded from the blank check guys.

I actually forgot about that. Quite entertaining.

Its one I actually hope does not end up on Nantucket.

A Defender taken care of can survive on Nantucket. I have seen many sad looking Defenders on Nantucket. My 95 D90 SW has been there since 2001 (we are to regional owners). Of course, I don't drive it in the ocean. It is kept garaged, well washed, etc. Every time I leave the island, I take it to the car wash and finish off a good wash by spraying the liquid wax all over the chassis. It has been waxoyled, hinges lubbed with Boeshield since new, etc. No substantial rust to speak of at 105K miles.

It really depends on where on the island it lives , if it is garaged, whether it is driven on the beach, and looked after properly.

I have bought a couple of super low mile 97s that spent their whole life on the island but were totally mint. Most of them are rot boxes though.
