Agreed. Lets not "go there". I just wanted to show people the info. from our side. Let them decide how they feel and then move on. All customers (even angry ones) deserve respect.
Last thing I will say about this matter.

I agree with Jonesy, kudos to Mike Smith for clearing it up.

I need to apologize.

It is amazing how the internet can make words seem different than they were intended. I was not trying to reference Jackey by saying "some guy" I was simply trying to point out that I thought it was cool that Mike was trying to get to the root of a problem with a customer that he did not recognize. That is all, there was no intention on my part to try and put anyone down.

I just wanted to be clear that I respect both parties.

Your post peaked my curiosity. We always refer to this forum as being more civil than discoweb.org, so I decided to validate that with an imperical sample. I searched for the word "apologize" on both forums

defendersource: "apologize" retreived 301 posts out of 506,538 - 5.94%
discoweb.org: "apologize" retreived 500 posts out of 969,673 - 5.16%

we're a little better, but we have room to grow if we want to stand out.

That's hardly a yardstick....Discoweb is older than D90.

Well, that's not exactly what I meant.... Dweb is older and has evolved (or not).

Most of the old nasties have up and left Dweb; just a bunch of kids asking how to put a 2" lift on these days.

Good point. A better comparison would be for my to get the IH8MUD statistics, but I'd rather slit my wrists or campaign for Nancy Pelosi. Scratch that. I'll just go with slitting my wrists.

I actually think a lot of people of this forum listen to the counter point as presented by people that may be in disagreement... Very rarely do I see threads break down into name calling (with the exception of some recent trolls).

All and all very civil, gentleman, carry on

109 cappings and I believe early 110 cappings are two piece like that. I prefer them honestly. They are easier to fit and give a little play. The set I got lined up with the side holes on my NAS 110. Given the ribbed roof, I bet they were original to the truck. Were they galvanized under the paint? Anyway, I have no dog in the situation, but I wanted to chime in on the cappings.

The tub wasn't original to the truck.
It was a 109 Wagon tub with 110 skins put on. You can see the remains of the 109 side in one of the pictures. Yes, the cappings can be 2 piece (like a Series and even some early 110s), but these were different colors and the rusty sawzall cut was evident on the front part.
The customer left them in place, and we only advised him that we suggested new 1 piece cappings after seeing the state of what was there and we were all the way in there anyway (and that now would be the time to make that area rust free).
Nothing to do with the cappings was part of the bill or complaint.

In looking at all this stuff this morning I see that my guys left the rivets to install the windows into the roof sides off the bill.
Time for some beatings.

Perfect! "Imperical evidence", check out the big brain on Brad!

The issue has been discussed and eluded to in various posts adnauseam and doesn't need to be vetted out within this thread. Maybe another thread someday, but for the time being I'm all set with "proving a case".
I bear much of the reponsibility for initiating the comments and as such I want to bring this thread squarely back on-topic.

NAS 110 #220/500
Found myself at Copley today and had the pleasure of looking over #220/500.
It is a true gem. It even smells new (if that is even possible for a 21-year old truck). Maybe it's all the NOS parts inside, perhaps still curing vinyl in all the new parts, IDK, but it really smells like a brand new vehicle! I imagined it to be perfect but perhaps because it sat for so long I had this anticipation of it smelling like an old vehicle. Everything about this truck is perfect. I had to turn the air conditioning on "max" on the ride home just to get rid of the chubby I had after sitting in this truck.
I feel like I came face-to-face with a unicorn. I may visit it again next week when I'm up there, sorta like it's a traveling art exhibit that may not be there forever.

Almost let it go....
I looked at the email file just now and I did do my job correctly and I let the customer know that we had run into trouble as soon as we saw it and he said, "OK, thanks for the heads-up" and "I'm in at a fair enough price where I can swallow these little skeletons".

[Links removed until personal info redacted]

Now I will let it go as I feel I did my job correctly. Its OK if the customer doesn't like the price, we did all we could.

Yes, yes, I know, but you have had 2 years to tell your side. I can take a few posts.

Yes a nice 110. If anyone needs images of what a stock 110 looks like we took tons of pictures of that one when it was here last Fall.

I don't have a dog in this either. But, wow. Mike, you crossed a line there. Hard to find a better way to plant the seed that nothing remains confidential at ECR.

Mike. If you would please remove the personal details linked to Jackie Treehorn in your attachments, I find it hard to believe you'd post your customers' contact information on your FB.

From the very beginning Jackie has always said that your shop's work was top notch. Quality and value are often, but not always, seen the same in the eyes of the beholder. It would be difficult for many of us to stomach having an order in to install a roll cage (yes clearly other things were involved aside from slapping the cage itself on) and then being billed roughly $9,000 in labor (at $93/hr), which comes out to roughly one employee working a total of 12 full working days on the project.
