Ok so got it cleaned and put back together. When out for a quick spin and the truck wont move in 2WD. Assumed rear half shafts and pulled out the passenger side first. Looked fine. Pulled driver side and same thing. Now im confused. Thought for sure it had a snapped half shaft.. What else could it be?

Thats what i thought at first but yes its all the way forward and seems engaged into high... I guess Ill have to turn the drive shaft and see if its turning the diff... this thing has an overdrive not sure if that has any effect on it and the 4wd plunger is missing the spring so Ive been operating it up and down by hand.

I have a good condition series diff (just the center part -- removed for ARB) if that is the issue you are welcome to it for free.

No problem. I think this is a great project and reminds me so much of my first series with my father! I actually went in my attic looking for series III front marker lights (fender dent) but I only had the red back ones.

Easy enough to check (well not with alloys) but pop off the metal caps and see if the shaft is turning.

I would think if the diff was bad you would have seen chunks of metal when he drained it.

Very cool! Thanks for checking. Dare I ask how long that project took?

Ill check the flanges first. How common is it for them to strip?

You got the optional and rare Freewheel Diff.

Rarer than hen's teeth.
