Tuffy Console Pad in Saddle Leather

Hey guys, I just thought I would post a couple pics. I've wanted to reupholster the arm pad on my tuffy console for awhile. It was very simple so I just thought I would share in case anyone else is interested in doing it. I removed the four screws holding the pad to the lid, and then removed the staples holding the vinyl to the wood base. Then I cut the stitching on the vinyl so I would have panels for a pattern. I used a lighter weight tooling leather so that it would be manageable, but still have that heavy leather look. I'm stoked with how it turned out! On a side note, I was searching google before I did this trying to find an example if someone else had done this. I came across a post from Wood & Faulk that was awesome. It is linked below. I didn't do the hand stitching since that seemed like more work for pretty much the same look. That being said I may have to do the steering wheel like on the link. Hope this is helpful for anyone thinking about doing something like this.

Just did mine in Elephant Hide. My only deviation from the original was to install T-nuts so that I could use 10-32 screws.

Very nice. Those suckers get HOT HOT! Especially in the sun. My infrared gun said the stock covering was 160 degrees after just a few minutes once. Davis recovered his in buffalo hide. Looked awesome.

Here's my thread

Nice work! Mine got converted into a mouse bed over the winter. I may tinker around with doing this. I'll have to borrow mom's sewing machine and get some pointers from her! Thanks for sharing!

Loved that you used the infrared gun on this. I can only imagine the stupid things I would check if I had one.

For example -

Point it at my balls after walking around the city on a humid day.

Point it at my underwear after farting.

Point it at Shayne as I mock his cutting skills.

Black Canvas to match my seats would look nice.

I'm looking but if you find a few yards of some that won't get too hot I'll buy some.
