What should I use to seal these threads?
I've never had this pipe off before...

Aircraft form-a-gasket #3 - the brown stuff in a can with a brush on the inside of the lid.
Available at most auto parts stores - NAPA has it for sure.
That or Loctite PST - Thread sealer with Teflon.

I would probably use the white thread sealant that Permatex makes.
